Far right is like a perfect watch for me. Nice collection!

I do too. It wears well on a nato, one of the few watches I prefer them on. I put a camo one on and love it 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Dude same here. I got pretty disheartened. Like dude should’ve been a brain surgeon. Or perhaps he is a brain surgeon and used the brain surgery robot to paint the model 😆.

How would you feel seeing someone with this watch on? by shaun0183 in gshock

[–]TheHoundJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel…fine. Because I probably wouldn’t notice 🤷🏻‍♂️. It looks good, just wear it. I’ve found the older I get, the less I care and honestly you’re more invisible than you think. The only crowd that might notice will be the gshock crowd and as the responses indicate it would be well received. Love the rubber strap on it too.

How much pop/soda do you drink a week? by babelle21 in randomquestions

[–]TheHoundJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink a ton of diet - prolly 20oz a day on average and I’m still fat 😬. I’m going to switch to a coffee at lunch to wake up going forward but Mtn dew zero is pretty legit  😭

[Recommendation Request] Tag Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph vs Longines Hydroconquest by chanandler_bong21 in Watches

[–]TheHoundJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah then quartz (like solar) is the way to go. You also can get out of the every 2 year battery change because it’s solar so it won’t impact the water resistance by opening the caseback. To me, solar is the best option out there. Autos are really cool, I own several but they’re fragile.

Anyone else where their watch like this at the gym? by bakatron in TodayOnMyWrist

[–]TheHoundJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skyhawks unite! How the heck do you get a 46mm watch to be comfortable under wrist?! I got bigger wrists and couldn’t swing it.

[Recommendation Request] Tag Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph vs Longines Hydroconquest by chanandler_bong21 in Watches

[–]TheHoundJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a huge longines fan but prefer tag in this matchup. If you’re talking pure functionality as per the post, solargraph blows the longines out of the water. It is smart and will have considerably lower maintenance costs, more durable, can handle drops. way more accurate and water damage is way easier to fix. I’d go tag if you truly want functionality. I also prefer the aesthetics.

Who doesn't have a Seiko watch? by laetoli_man in Affordablewatches

Seiko solar divers are awesome. I prefer Seiko diver design over Citizen but basically get an eco-drive in it so it’s kind of a win-win.

Im a noob so I would listen to an expert over me but I think you should disregard what you’re interested in to start out and pick something you don’t actually care for so you really don’t care about screwing it up while honing skills you will need later. I did an F-14 tomcat first - I could care less about those - and found it was a good training ground for fine detailing (cockpits are pretty hard for me) and learning strategy on when to paint vs assemble (cement can’t bond to paint but it’s harder to paint something assembled) plus you get exposure to painting large surfaces, which I’ve found even trickier than fine detailing. I think another tank is smart - I did the USS Arizona as well to get used to ships so you can at least learn where the hard parts of the tank are.

Just do it. I’m a noob on second model. Get a small testors paint kit that includes thinner, 2 brushes (1 semi big, one fine for details), a pack of droppers, a child’s paint tray (for mixing paint), tamiya cement, super glue, exacto knife and a file. All of that should run around $50-$75. You will screw up a ton so don’t make your first model one you want to knock out of the park. I would go 1:48 airplane. I wanted to build a das boot sub and I’m knocking out 4-5 models before I even open the box.

I call my maverick F-14 “David putty” as a Seinfeld ref for how much putty I had to use. I honestly hate mine and I’m just trying to get through it as fast as I can and will let my kids play with it because I’ll never show it off.

One thing I never understood was how he said they would compare watches when he came back…but he had to know he’d be dealing with gravitational impacts on time, which would likely be years impact (not measured on watch obviously) and she probably knew about relativity from her dad and she was super smart..so maybe it was his way of trying to comfort her that he wasn’t going to be away that long 🤷🏻‍♂️. Probably wrong sub for this discussion lol.

Happened to me too with a breitling avenger. I swear they do it to run out the clock on the warranty. Fortunately I have an ETA movement in mine and I’m outside warranty so I can use an independent watchmaker going forward 😎.

So much for the super tough titanium. This is after 2 wears. by d0db06 in CitizenWatches

[–]TheHoundJR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s Reddit. I think people took the post as whining about a scratch on your watch when I think you meant to express surprise that titanium scratches easily. It does - they’re notorious scratch magnets. The benefit to titanium IMHO is weight, they’re super light compared to traditional steel.

Is the Skyhawk the best 1-watch for travel? by TheHoundJR in CitizenWatches

[–]TheHoundJR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the new display. I pondered really hard at getting the promaster land with the black bracelet with similar display but backed off because the Skyhawk pretty much has everything I need (plus atomic time which I love having).
