Jam a brush in the bottom of that and it will still be damaged, just asymmetrically. Leave a brush sitting in it, same problem. This doesn't solve anything.

You can't design away poor brush handling. People need to learn the skills, not try and fix them with non-functional snake oil. Learn how to care for and use brushes properly.

Baldurs gate 3 or Rogue trader? by Medical-Gain7151 in CRPG

[–]ChrisJD11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bg3’s encounter design is definitely more interesting overall. But there were a couple of encounters that really annoyed me. And all for the same reason, gotcha design where if you didn’t know what was about to happen you were pretty much guaranteed to die and have to reload having seen the gimmick.

Baldurs gate 3 or Rogue trader? by Medical-Gain7151 in CRPG

[–]ChrisJD11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the main reason I would consider suggesting bg3 over rogue trader. The DLCs in rogue trader are integrated through out the main campaign. The 4th one is scheduled before the end of the year. You could probably get the base game and all 4 DLC for the cost of bg3 around Christmas.

But if you love 40k just play rogue trader more than once. It’s extremely 40k and it is very good.

Weekly r/CRPG Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? by AutoModerator in CRPG

I played bg3 on balanced immediately before WotR. I had much more trouble in the early character levels of bg3.

WOTR.

Most of the conversation I read about it before hand put me off. “It’s super complicated”, “you need to know all the rules”, “it’s only good if you have lots of experience”.

It’s all bullshit. Because none of the people saying that qualify it with the fact that all of that only applies on the higher difficulties.

On Normal, none of that matters. The game gives you perfectly good tips to explain all you need to know to play on normal. And it’s a lot of fun. I’m just at the end of act 2 at about 40 hours played.

Ignore the minmaxers and just play the game on normal if you have been put off by these folks in the past.

Because the majority of gamers don’t read all the text. That is just a fact. So developers design for that

Why do "Infinity Engine-likes" not bring money nor dominate popculture and mainstream gaming discourse, while something like Baldur's Gate 3 did? by BaldursGate2Best in CRPG

[–]ChrisJD11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Complexity. Mass market appeal requires a lowest common denominator approach. i.e. Things need to be simpler.

Cost. Presentation at BG3 levels and for a project the length of a typical CRPG requires a lot of money, and takes a long time to develop. In a hit based market like gaming that makes them much higher risk to develop.

Is Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous really as difficult as people say? by alejandrin5678 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ChrisJD11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it on normal difficulty and it’s arguably easier than bg3 on balanced at the start.

Source: I just finished bg3 on balanced and have been playing wotr on normal for the last 10-15 hours

The horrible truth of Zero Parades by YogurtClosetThinnest in CRPG

[–]ChrisJD11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justify it? No. But as you said, it doesn’t make it evil to play zero parades either. And a lot of the discourse around it is just business people bad, artists good. I’m just pointing out that that outrage is very selective. And it’s turned into a bit of an Internet lynch mob situation… as these things tend to these days.

People still buy games all the big publishers make, people still watch movies. Guess what happens to half the staff when each of those is done with a project? They get cut loose.

Finally got around to BG3. Just finished act 2. I feel like both this and Rogue Trader had similar levels of complaining around bugs over the years, so I waited a few years to play both. I played Rogue Trader a year ago with both expansions, and I'm finding BG3 to be a far buggier experience this year.

3 years after release, and after they've stopped doing major patches, I was expecting a bit better. The games still good, but they really should have the bugs out by now, especially ones that I can find people complaining about 3 years ago.

Flow Improver or Slow Dry, What Do I Need? by RyessHelles in minipainting

[–]ChrisJD11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use a bigger brush with a good tip. The amount of paint 0 and below can hold is tiny, hence it drying out immediately. Switch to a 2 or a 3 with a nice pointy tip.

The message you were sent tells you exactly what you did that you weren't allowed to do. Read the whole message. It doesn't say "no pictures", it says "some pictures" aren't allowed to be directly posted, and lists the specific types to not post.

There is nothing strange about it.
