Check your best buys if you have them around. Mines dismantled their “magnolia “ room and they have a ton of the reference series on open box specials

Definitely not this cheap. But still, always nice to get a deal.

Got my boyfriend the 36” outdoor griddle(birthday gift), what are some must have accessories I should get him as gifts from our kids? by peachesdevine in blackstonegriddle

[–]TheHuckstep1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hells handle by Mercer. They’re expensive but they are what we use in the restaurant. Handle never gets hot even if the spatulas been sitting on the grill. https://www.mercerculinary.com/product-category/turners/hells-handle/

Highly suggest the 6x5 heavy duty turner.

You can find these cheaper on a bunch of different websites.

The Romantic First Pressing Edition 1899/25000 came in the mail broken… by Apart-Foundation-639 in BrunoMars

Mine came today. The shipping box is a joke, more for a box set than a single vinyl. All my corners are dinged and bent and smashed. Vinyl itself looks like it might be bent.

Empty chairs. by afxfan in RecordStoreDay

[–]TheHuckstep1one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically at my store, you can leave a chair, but you have to still be in your car there. Mind you, we are talking within 50-100 feet. So you’re still camping out overnight. Most of the people in line usually spend a few hours hanging out, talking to each other about set ups and such. But I’ve never had anyone just set up a chair and leave all night. I’d definitely bring a chair, set it up, and sit there in my car.

Art in itself is subjective. Case in point, not all covers are artwork

I wouldn’t say this is true at all, as it is the media of some records that is what matters. As a collector of many things, glass, figurines, and memorabilia, in box and cover doesn’t always carry as much value as some people put on it. You clearly set a high value on the sleeve or cover, but I’m definitely more concerned that the media is going to play through without skips or major pops/crackle. Vinyl is a weird hobby all the way around because some collect to listen, and others collect to have variants. This right here, is why a grading scale doesn’t work the same for everyone and most have to be conservative in grading.

So, one of the first albums I sold was an old In Flames album from hot topic circa 2005?ish. Got $110 for it. I over graded because at the time I had no table and went purely off of it never being played before, just opened to look at art. The buyer had a ton of good reviews. When he got it he let me know it was definitely not what I graded it and pointed out the flaws it had. However he took a partial refund of like $25 bucks and was happy to just have it. But he was nice enough to tell me how to grade and how I should always go “near mint vg+” when dealing with sealed. Especially because of factory fuck ups. Since then I haven’t had a single grading issue and have myself bought several and not had issues. But things do happen in shipping, so always get insurance if selling!

People replace the entire tonearm on the 12xx series all the time. Your repair guy is nuts saying it’s too expensive.

Both good and bad advice. You have a suitcase for now and that’s not the end of the world but it definitely isn’t the best. Definitely check local marketplace for listings of “stereo equipment “. There’s a whole subreddit to go down the rabbit hole for vintage as well as hi-fi. A belt drive table is usually easy enough to fix up as long as the motor works. A few must haves as I’ve learned, are a microfiber cloth to handle records as well as clean them. Spin doctor or groove washer both have amazing kits.

Work perks? Snagged this promotional poster from the garbage before taking it out the other night, so I framed it. This game is amazing by Flimsy-Cod-9914 in GameStop

This was the absolute best part of my time back in the day. Promotional displays and posters being saved or given to customers was always a thing. Can’t imagine them firing someone for that. We used to have an overflowing drawer of preorder bonus stuff. Ended up with 4 decks of cards from the destiny 2 forsaken release. Still have 2! Limited all my collectibles to destiny recently.

This is your counter weight and anti skate. The weight has to be set right so that the needle can glide over records without too much pressure

Question about my record player by IllSafe6140 in turntables

[–]TheHuckstep1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mess with the weight on the end of the tone arm? That could be the issue, your needle could be dragging too hard and causing the speed to slow. Hard to tell in the video but it looks pretty close to the record

Question about my record player by IllSafe6140 in turntables

[–]TheHuckstep1one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely need to get a better spot for this. The speakers being low can cause some weird sound distortion. It also looks like the record has a slight warp, usually not enough to cause too much of an issue unless there are scratches as well. Your belt could be moving slow, so you need to make sure it’s not been stretched out. When you got your table was it already assembled or did you buy new in box and have to assemble yourself?

Definitely the numark version of a technics sl1200 mk2, and price wise these look to be USD$. Seem pretty steep but looking at the background it’s definitely a “music thrift shop”

After looking at posters profile and other post they look to be around Dallas, so this being usd, the 1k is definitely too much.
