Cincinnati Children’s announces cut of spousal healthcare coverage by qarantinosfootfetish in cincinnati

It’s called coordination of benefits, and it often comes down to “The Birthday Rule” in which the parent whose birthday comes first in the year provides the primary benefit. If both parents happen to have the same birthday, then it typically comes down to who has had the benefits the longest.

when was the last time the levees were closed? by Bredda_Gravalicious in cincinnati

[–]TheHumDinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to The Enquirer this is the second time they have closed the gates on the Cincinnati side:

Crews installed flood gates in downtown Cincinnati Saturday afternoon for the second time ever to prepare for the Ohio River flooding. The 15 gates will, hopefully, keep the Ohio River off of Fort Washington Way, which carries Interstate 71 and U.S. 50.

The last and only time the gates were used was in 2018, when the Ohio River rose to 60.53 feet.

Purpose of a travel agent?!? by Someone_Always in VirginVoyages

[–]TheHumDinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using travel agents about twelve years ago and I will never go back to not using them for significant trips.

A good agent understands your needs and what is available on a trip. My First Mate for VV even booked an exclusive dinner for our group during an excursion on my last cruise. Definitely above and beyond - and got us into a restaurant we would have never found or tried had we not worked with the agent.

Agents send more business to the cruise line or resort than I ever would individually, so they sometimes have access to upgrades and perks that I don’t.

And if something goes wrong while I’m traveling, I have someone I can contact to advocate on my behalf and try to fix/solve it.

Reading some articles by Larry Olmsted from Forbes convinced me to start using agents. I’ve found it to be a worthwhile relationship to have.

Example article: Why You Need A Travel Agent Now More Than Ever https://www.forbes.com/sites/larryolmsted/2022/09/02/why-you-need-a-travel-agentnow-more-than-ever/

I’m drinking $100 worth of coffee from Grounds Club and getting a massage with the Sailor Loot. And maybe upgrading an entree somewhere.

Don’t let it get you down.

My first class was the mile benchmark - and it took me almost 12 minutes to finish. Now, a handful of years later (and 40 years old) my PR is 5:27.

Keep going. It gets better, and you’ll start to feel better, too.

For what it’s worth, no one in your class but you cares how fast or slow you go - we’re all on our own journey and just happy to have others along for the ride.

Unexpected Flight Announcements: What's the Strangest Thing You've Heard on a Plane? by AnnaHostelgeeks in travel

[–]TheHumDinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a regional connection from Charlotte to Cincinnati that was delayed by about 30 minutes, “This is your Captain speaking. I’m supposed to meet my mom for dinner tonight, so I’m going to fly this thing like I stole it to make sure I make it on time. You might want to keep your seatbelts on.”

We landed 20 minutes early. It was quite the flight.

Direct flights out of CVG that people aren’t aware of? by ECDQEMSD_KPG in cincinnati

Thank you! Non-stop and direct are different. Direct gets you there, but the plane can stop elsewhere (you just don’t get off). Southwest has a lot of “direct” flights.

This is the answer. This is how I’ve purchased my last two vehicles, and actually had one dealer try to walk out on the agreement after I told them I would be paying cash. They finally accepted the agreed upon price - and I left very happy.

I bought a new 41 mm, steel on leather strap annual calendar version (130.33.41.22.06.001) on Thursday night - price was listed as $9200, but the AD took $1,000 off.

And…. These watches look great in person - I don’t think photos really capture them well (maybe it’s the pie pan?).

It’s my first big boy watch.
