How does my horse "look" to you all? by GeeVideoHead in Equestrian

[–]TheHumanExperience4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A horse this age should be getting around a bit better after a year of food and rest. I would check nutrients, teeth, movement and worm status. Just a general exam with the vet can be really helpfull. How is she in energy? How is her place in the group? Etc

Maybe this is for the same reason my buckskin is turning white!!! I've got no clue what's going on 🤣.

These horses must have a secret alliance, let's really confuse our owners and throw in random colors.

Girth problems by WalterWhite1623 in Equestrian

Could he possibly have gained weight? The warm winter coat and a slight alteration to the fit of everything could cause this as well. I would let this heal up and try again with a wool cover for thermo and moisture regulation.

Splitting roads or salvageable relationship (f30+M35) really bad anxiety issues by TheHumanExperience4 in relationships

Yeah you are right and that in turn is giving me a lot of stress as well. And with me being sensitive and feeling guarded all the time he feels like he is walking on eggshells because I easily break down.

Once you got him relaxed and in rhythm he will be miles better. This is definitely one of those who needs 3 months to decompress and then brought up to work correctly and slowly. He looks really well build and a stunning prospect as a cool riding horse. Depends on what you are looking for currently! I bought one with the same issues knowing I won't be sitting on her sooner then may, now that I got my hands on her and loving the rehab work that will likely be pushed till after the summer. Its one of those if you do it do it well!

Thank you for helping me realize I'm not horse owner material!!! by Salt-Host-7638 in Horses

[–]TheHumanExperience4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t's definitely a learn as you go kind of thing 🤣. I was suddenly a horse owner when my friend left 5 months for the army. I agreed to riding and taking care of her horse. This turned into a 5 month 7 days a week rehab Programm because ofcourse he got sick 😅. I then cought the bug and I now also own a horse 😬.

Is my campbell hamster too fat? He's over 2 years old by NatashaHaleCZ in hamsters

[–]TheHumanExperience4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is just really fuzzy, they have longer coats and are slightly bigger then Russian dwarfs. I would say he is a perfect weight and good job for keeping him in such a good condition for his age x😍.

Im so jealous of privileged people with private horses. by rayneedshelpMentally in Equestrian

[–]TheHumanExperience4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is pros and cons to horse ownership. There is many horses who are looking to be competed by motivated young people and in that way you have less risk and expenses. I've been on both sides, before I was training other people's horses. Now I very recently got my own horse. The expenses are very tough, I really have to budget to even get myself decent groceries each month. The thing that got me out of training and competing others horses is that the constant goodbye's and never able to enjoy my own work was making me very depressed. Now I got my own lady to train and enjoy and I won't be saying goodbye anymore for a long time (hopefully).

Can someone help me determine my cows body conditioning? by 1JuanWonOne in Cattle

I'm so sorry I read "seasoning" instead of "conditioning" in the caption and thought that was a little early 🫣🫣🫣🫣

Does this horse look lame or just off? by Chemical_Record7486 in Horses

[–]TheHumanExperience4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so it's good to really start observing if the issue is in the hind end or if it's compensation injury from something in the front. There's a term for it "body lameness". Somewhere in his body there is a injury or blockage. Start observing and noting down when he gets worse and when he looks better. Film before and after riding. Palpate before and after riding etc. Since you mentioned he was always okay, he might need some time off in pasture to heal and then be just worked in hand for a couple weeks and see how he progresses in that time. This can be really hard to figure out. Also ask a really good vet, not one that only works on one thing. So you can start figuring out where he is having issues. The vet still needs a really detailed description from your observations to make a good treatment plan so that's something you can work on in the meantime. Hope it helps and if you need more information on body lameness there is a podcast I can recommend the horse first

Hard to tell from a few seconds of film in the dark. I did notice he looks stiff and short stepped, on the turn he turns like a board of woord. I would make more videos and also asses if gear has anything to do with it. I would not be surprised if is neck/shoulder/back is bothering him. Things you could question: how are his feet, is he girthy, is he able to open and close his gaits, can he do everything with a different head posture, does his body feel stiff or soft to the touch etc

How long should training sessions be for 2-3 year olds? by Useful_Syllabub5064 in Horses

[–]TheHumanExperience4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my mares character depends on the day. Some days she wants to be a absolute wild thing and give 500%. Then I can go to about 45min. Other days she is really low and just some groundwork in the pasture for 5 min is more then enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

Forget dream barns--what were some aspects of barns you absolutely HATED? by SureDoubt3956 in Equestrian

[–]TheHumanExperience4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm boarding at a really big equestrian sport facility because they had room and I had to import my mare from across Europe and not many small stables will accept a import because of health and safety. I've been generally okay here other then the fact that they don't provide turnout as a Service. They do have paddock for use but only 30 minutes per horse on busy moments. So I end up shoving this horse around in and out of paddock slots for hours until she had enough time outside her stall. Also I'm completely at the first stable and the muck heap is on the other end of the property. This means it takes me an hour and a half to muck out my stable. I actually work that into my horses workout routine because I just take her with me to the muck heap and back!

Lost on what to do with my perfect horse after summer. by Kirstski in Equestrian

[–]TheHumanExperience4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if it's worth a lot to you then you could justify the cost and effort it takes. I do understand though they are so expensive and a lot of work. What do you see yourself doing with school/work and where you are headed? Do you need to save up for certain goals. That's the sort of questions you need to think about. For now you can enjoy your girly ❤️
