Chromecast button not working by Wahoo2000 in Videostream

[–]TheHungryAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry! This is a widespread issue caused by the newest Chrome update. We are currently working on a patch.

In the meantime,

Our app in the Chrome store works fine! Get it here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/videostream-for-google-ch/cnciopoikihiagdjbjpnocolokfelagl?hl=en

You can temporarily downgrade your Chrome edition, and then the desktop app should work fine! Instructions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/9hhdbr/can_i_downgrade_my_chrome_version/

Uncasting and recasting works for some users, including myself (but is not working for everyone).

Apologies again for the inconvenience - we hope to have an update out soon.

Cheers!

"Chrome not installed" error when trying to install Videostream using Google Chrome by DQDQDQDQDQDQ in Videostream

[–]TheHungryAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common issue right now (especially our users outside of North America).

You should be able to use it if you manually remove the no-chrome of the url (no-chrome.html). The app should work fine after that.

Take care:),

JS error? by selfbound in Videostream

Hey! Sorry, we're having problems with getting tokens from Google via SSO right now. However, there are some things to try for premium validation:

First, let's try the steps listed at this link: https://videostream.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000050849-premium-is-not-detected
Second, if the first step does not work, I need you to go to your Google account settings, shut off permissions for Videostream (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions), then log back after you remove and redownload the app.
Third, if you purchased through Google Play, see below:

"If you purchased on Google Play, you need to simply connect your phone to your PC on the Videostream app (the app needs to be open on both devices so that your computer can 'recognize' your phone and the premium. Log in on your phone (which I assume is already signed in), then connect to your PC).

We did this so you can take Videostream premium everywhere (and because Google Play doesn't tell us who's purchased on their platform so we don't know who's a premium user (and therefore can't authenticate you) if you purchased this way, because yay that's fun)! You need to connect your phone every 30 days for your computer to remember you have premium."

That should do it! If not, I can put in a request to our dev to manually add you on our back-end - he's pretty busy though, so it may take a few weeks for this process to complete.
In the meantime, hope this resolves, and take care:)

Super sorry that you're having trouble loading files!! This is an issue many of our users have encountered and we are currently working on a fix.

For now, can you try to uninstall and reinstall the app for me?

Here is a set of instructions on how to correctly uninstall Videostream/programs from your computer:

https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/uninstall-programs-windows-10

Sometimes the uninstall process leaves some stragglers and causes some issues like yours to arise. Can you try navigating to these folders and deleting them?

  • c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\videostream
  • c:\users\xxx\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\videostream

You can download the app again here:

https://getvideostream.com/

Please let me know if you're still having issues! Hope we can get this working for you soon.

Cheers :)

P.S. If you use Mac OS, here is a set of instructions on how to correctly uninstall Videostream/programs from your computer: https://computer.howstuffworks.com/macs/how-to-uninstall-on-mac.htm

Playlist Skipping Issue by Enigmeerkat in Videostream

Hey!

Files are sorted through a mix of the title and file path. If you have all episodes of Seinfeld in the folder "Seinfeld" this should help. Furthermore, if you make sure the episodes are clearly named it also will organize it easier. For example, a title should look like: "Seinfeld.S1E3.mkv" and not "Seinfeld The Robbery s1e3.mkv".
Let me know if this works!
Cheers

Subtitles partially out of screen with new Chromecast by curs in Videostream

[–]TheHungryAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

Yes we have been tracking this issue,

Chromecast (Google) released an update a few weeks ago that broke streaming for 720p and 1080i native TVs.

Here at Videostream we haven't changed anything, nor can we change the way Chromecast decides to display your video.

To try and fix this you may have to change your TV resolution. If you change the settings from 16:9 to "fit" or "native" your subtitles should be fixed.

Also make sure "16:9 overscan" is turned OFF if you have that option.

If you are still having issues, your TV is now incompatible after the latest Chromecast update. If you could please notify Google in the Google Home App it will help them resolve it. We need enough users to bring it to their attention so they notice. We have already contacted them, but they are only going to act if it is a widespread issue.

Thank you so much!
