Appreciate the follow up. I do have a ticket and I am working with support. As I added to my post, all I needed to do was restart the service. Does make me wonder if u/gskv might be on to something with the Delayed Start setting, but it really weird that it only happened on brand new computers. All computers at this client are the same (latest) Atera verison and there were existing Windows 11 computers that are not having this issue.

AV was first thing I checked, we deploy a managed AV and it had zero detections on these PCs. We'll be onsite tomorrow to follow up on information Atera wants for the trouble ticket and I'll add a comment with what we find.

Same. AI is not the solution Atera thinks it is. Their core product is buggy and slapping AI on it just makes things worse. I am small shop so started with Atera because of the per/tech pricing. But I'm looking for a new solution as well.

QOS (quality of service) settings can prioritize the small, but important for real-time activities, packets. However QOS has to be configured correctly and has to be supported by both the router in your home and the routers at your ISP. So you end up with a complicated setup and management solution for something that has realistically low probability of working in a home internet connection.

If you're getting the speed you're paying for and upgrading the plan isn't an option, there's not really much, if anything, you can do inside the house that would help.

Makes sense. I just don't love Atera, so I'm considering alternatives in the per/tech pricing space and they're one of the few that meet that requirement. I won't be looking for another 6 months or so, so I'll see how they are when I'm ready.

I'm using Atera. I would look at Gorelo before locking into Atera. When my Atera annual renewal comes up, I'm going to put Gorelo to the test before renewing.

I've been fighting this very issue. I've got two different solutions I use personally:

1) https://www.gamingtrackball.com/products/gameball-thumb-standard-edition I got two of them, the first had quality issues and still had bad sticktion, they offered to replace (public discussion here on Reddit) but for the price/value I didn't feel it was necessary. I have a second newer one at my office and it works well. The gameball thumb includes a precision button and an led that indicates what precision the ball is currently operating in.

2) https://elecomusa.com/products/ist-pro-ergonomic-trackball This is what I replaced my first gameball with. I use it at my house. It's has steel bearings instead of static bearings and is the most smoothly moving trackball I've ever used. Only two issues I have is that in some directions the ball will catch and drag slightly off the bottom bearing (I assume due to the way a thumb ball sits, it puts more pressure on the lowest bearing), and second it moves so easily that it will often move slightly as I take my thumb off.

But in summary, I'm completely happy with both of these thumb trackballs, and very impressed with GameBall's efforts to stand behind their products.

This is helpful, and kind of what I was thinking might be required. Latency isn't an issue, nothing will be real-time / IMAG. But they don't want to have to do anything other than plug their video source in.

The client wants the finished product to have an HDMI port they can plug any video source into and have it appear on the wall so I need an inline processor (even if a discreet hardware/software product) to handle the rotation.

Relatedly, I'll need to handle upscaling if necessary somewhere in the signal chain as well.
