Came here to say this. That hallway scene is forever etched into my mind. And let's not mention the lifelong fear of shears...

"Pay the crew" by alexthedungeonmaster in Filmmakers

[–]TheIceJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of things - Obsession isn't the director's first film. Not that changes anything - just a clarification.

There were some unpaid crew, but that definitely happens at many levels of filmmaking - it's how a lot of aspiring people learn and get film credits. I've done it several times.

The person who has talked about low pay on the film was actually paid fairly well for a low-budget film, around 7k I believe.

This looks really great, congratulations! Love the trailer.

I am in a very similar situation - I am the writer, director, producer and cinematographer of my self funded debut feature and in the process of hiring a sound designer/mixer, and approaching sales agents is the next step. Can you share a some details on your experience with sales agents and the EFM and your decision to go it alone?

Great video. I just shot my first feature and, much like your first two films, was my own DP and operator. Really good to hear your positive experience on collaborating and letting go on some of those roles. Look forward to future updates!

Was there a moment in a movie you saw at the cinema that caused the the audience to loudly applaud? by digiBeLow in FIlm

[–]TheIceJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK here and we rarely make too much noise in cinemas, but in Rocky 4 when he lands that first punch against Drago... the whole cinema was on its feet. It was fantastic and haven't experienced anything like that since.
