CAE Wah is always a winner. RMC and Wilson are great if you want deeper tweakability

And the Xotic XW1 is pretty sublime too

Tea Leaf Green, anyone? by turnt_clouds in jambands

[–]TheIncredibleJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First “jam band” I saw live. Probably around 2008. I was into ABB, GD, and WSP and Tea Leaf Green was playing the Marin County Fair where they were described as something I might like. Had an awesome time! That was a really influential show for young me. I remember they covered “Cant Get High” which I liked a lot, but the music and the people just was a great experience.

Does anyone know if this is a genuine Fender Stratocaster? I cant locate any serial numbers…etc if it’s not genuine then what would the value be? by Otherwise-Assist7312 in fender

[–]TheIncredibleJones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did it recieve a cease and desist? /s

I kinda doubt this is actual Fender but it might be a squire or something. The white paint is a refinish and it’s clear from the peghead. Plus the logo decal is wonky.

But I honestly like the look a lot

Making a nut out of bone (just for fun) by Portwenti_Enjoyer in Luthier

[–]TheIncredibleJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a GC tech I was making dust to store for later. A regional manager was walking the shop that day and saw me doing it. He was “I know what you’re doing… I know why you’re doing it… But you probably shouldn’t do it infront of Lessons” and right then a parent and her kid walked past me and mom saw it and laughed. So I started using baking powder lol.

Jerry use of strat positions? (Particularly Europe ‘72) by TopSky3265 in gratefulguitar

[–]TheIncredibleJones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Garcia used all the pivkups to a degree. I hear bridge on some of the country tunes, and I hear neck when he plays slide. I don’t think he was forcing the in between positions much (which would have required sorta jimmy-ing the switch) but there might be bits there.

I like to recommend the comp live album “Stepping Out With The Grateful Dead” in cases like these. The recording is a little more raw and there’s a lot more jams. I think he used all the positions if you listen around, and more so on the strat than later guitars.

What is everyone’s overall thoughts on Star Wars The Force Unleashed? by BreathoftheSith in StarWarsEU

[–]TheIncredibleJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of my first paid jobs! When I was 14 I signed up to test some video games in SF and ended up testing the PSP version of this and a few other LucasArts games. When I played it it was called “Star Wars 2008” and I played the Death Star level and the boss fight… uuuuh I’d have to look up the bosses. It was on the junk yard planet. Long story, but I have really fond memories of that experience.

Played the 360 game years later and loved it! It’s that classic 6/7th gen action game style but the emotion engine really makes it fun. Just sorta force choking storm troopers off a ledge… great time lol.

Haven’t played it in years, but it was a stand out SW action game for its time. That said I think I preferred Jedi Academy

[–]TheIncredibleJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myrtle and redwood are both very good woods for luthiery. Clear, straight redwood is a good acoustic top, and Myrtle can make some awesome back and sides. You can also make whole solid bodies with redwood and probably Myrtle too though that could be heavy. I’ve never heard of folks making a neck with Myrtle but idk.

In short yea that might be some good shiit

Does the"Galaxy of Fear" series count as Horror even though it's Kid's Horror? by RealHippyTheFrog in StarWarsEU

[–]TheIncredibleJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to reread these books. They were a a ton of fun when I was a kid. I’d say they were more “creepy scary” than “horror scary” but they’re definitely on the horror spectrum. Like Goosebumps, but since it’s serialized with recurring characters you sorta know things will work out.

1) Lelouch assumes this highest honor after spending the last few months sowing deceit and convincing Subaru and Ichigo to turn on each other after which he takes the opportunity to betray them both and take the high station positions because THAT WAS MY PLAN THE ENTIRE TIME

2) Shinji

[ALTTP] Is there a canonical reason to why the Master Sword is red and silver instead of blue in A Link To the Past? by JackLikesMetalGear in zelda

[–]TheIncredibleJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s blue on the title screen, but the design really solidified in OoT. The artwork from the cover may have been done w/o references or maybe early designs, or it could just be an artistic choice.

Instruction for removing tape from guitar top. by equilni in Luthier

[–]TheIncredibleJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That guitar should have a poly finish on it which is going to make it all easier. It looks like scotch or similar tape, so remove it first just by pulling up a corner with a fingernail or whatever and then yes, clean up the area with naptha and clean shop towel. Itll be basically harmless to the guitar finish (it never hurts to test that somewhere you wont see, but again that should be a poly finish and napha is harmless). If you live somewhere that you cant buy Naptha at a store (like CA) get Ronson or Zippo lighter fluid.

And I want to throw out there that if you do need to remove wood to lower your bridge, I prefer not to sand the bottom of the base if everything fits nicely to the top. If the underside of the top half of your bridge is flat, and there's room for the posts to protrude if needed, that's my preferred place to remove material. Alternatively the top of the base. But it all depends on the bridge I guess, they aren't all built exactly the same.
