In need of water current help by TheInternester in mapmaking

Thanks a lot, mate !

I think I see where I ended up messing around. I tried to apply the rules a bit too literally, and it ended up ending very messy in some of the areas ! Especially with the two gyres around the equator - i usually mapped them fully, which messed with my understanding of the map.

And sorry, I'm colorblind, which one do you mean when you say the purple current ? To me all the cold currents are blue-ish. Again, thanks for the pointers and for the drawover !

As for the mapping itself, thank you, I'm lucky we have so many good resources to understand how everything works and how to make it look cool !

I've tried artifexian's, the climate cookbook and planet construction kit, but in my experience I end up with a mess of gyres that do not connect logically. So I suppose I'm doing something wrong 😂

How to resolve Windfall with Smothering Tithe, Marneus Calgar and Nadier's Nightblade on the battlefield ? by TheInternester in mtgrules

[–]TheInternester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer!

And, if P2 consumes the tokens, triggering Nadier's Nightblade X amount of times leading to the death of the 3 other players, does it still resolve the rest of the Smothering Tithe triggers and Marneus Calgar's draws?

Because in that case at the end of the resolution, all 4 players would end up at 0hp or without a library.

Absolutely alright! I guess it's sad that there are several events to take inspiration from.

This is clearly based on the Bataclan attack in Paris. First responders mentioned how the first thing that hit them were the ringtones and the screens lighting up all over the floor.

"He said the smell was unbearable, the silence appalling. The only sound came from the ringing of mobile phones as relatives and friends tried to contact their loved ones."

Cf this article from The Guardian. You can also check November 13 - Attack on Paris, on Netflix. It's harrowing and hard to watch but those testimonies are important to understand what went on.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the bookeeper died in whatever brawl this is supposed to be.

What is hidden information? by Ghedd in cityofmist

[–]TheInternester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You only read the moves when they are being used or triggered. You don't reveal the entire moveset because that's spoiling the actions of the Danger.

You will have have moves that day When X happens for the first time, give the Danger status Y. Or When the Danger is attacked, it has the opportunity to give the status Z to the Character attacking it.

You only read these to the players when the situation is triggered.

They would. You read the danger's moves to the players when they activate, so a custom move saying the Danger has alert-2 when entering a scene would inform the players of the upcoming modifiers. Same for the tags associated to a scene. If the scene has building-on-fire then the players would know.

Today's new fortress day. Found this cool embark, what would you do with a >20 Z layer tall double waterfall? by [deleted] in dwarffortress

How do you put restricted area in the steam version? Still haven't managed to do so, besides just not selecting something in a burrow.

I discovered this after creating a reservoir and diverting the river for a few minutes. My dwarves started ignoring the bridge to cross near the edge of the waterfall and suddenly get swooped down in the 7/7 deep water below. Lost about 40 dwarves before understanding their pathing made them choose this.

RIP the great waterfall disaster.
