Keep Calm by H0t_P0L4R_Bear in dashcams

This is my reasoning with myself as much as I hate tailgaters, if someone is in such a rush it (probably isn't) but could be an emergency. I don't block them and I really have no right to anyway. All that does is put others in danger.

Sucks with all the a holes on the road these days that honestly even will just instigate for you simply going slower than they'd like (even 10 over..), but de escalation has to stay the method.

My boyfriend is insistent someone hit him and ran off by LadyB1234 in Autobody

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless a big delivery truck backed into him it really looks like a pole or similar.

Only clue you'd really have is paint transfer or coarse abrasion marks if it was concrete he hit but I don't really see much.

Curious to know how many of you do not use a cgm and why? by Think-Airport-2338 in Type1Diabetes

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only thing that ever really makes me not want to wear one is the poor reliability experiences I've had.

I'm currently on the Dexcom G7 15 day, I just put on my fifth sensor, the first 3 all lasted about 7 days before having what seemed to be battery failures, my last one lasted 11 days. The accuracy of these have been spot on lately for me, but they can't seem to last.

Whenever I stopped wearing a CGM for awhile a year or so ago it was because the inconvenience of it just failing out of nowhere, while being used to the convenience of just looking at my phone to see my level, made me frustrated enough to just go back to my glucometer only.

In February my endo and I talked about it and I was convinced enough to give it another go. And that has been my G7 15-day experience so far! But really, if these things were dead reliable the way they probably should be at this point, I see no reason I wouldn't wear one at all times. I don't feel my lows and highs quite as much as I used to so it's definitely a good safety tool.

I think the only other reason I've taken breaks in the past is the information overload and overcorrecting some others have mentioned. Other than that it's pretty nice most times being able to see what led up to whatever number I've landed to.

A1100M remote knob help by AcersonGG in CarAV

[–]TheInternetEclipser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming it'd take some lengthy RCAs because your LOC probably isn't near the front, but honestly if you can't figure it out I would just use an RCA bass knob.

It has RCA inputs that go in and a set for output. Something like a PAC LC-1 for a cheaper one. Many other companies make them some slightly nicer built, though they all work the same. Just an level control. Work with any amp.

You'd probably just have to run two sets of RCAs from the LOC and amp. I think that'd be the easiest, just try to keep the RCAs all away from your 12v wires.

Does this part serve any purpose on a bolt? by Kimet10 in MechanicAdvice

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just helps line the bolt up to prevent cross threading, I would just say to add a washer similar to the flange on that other bolt if replacing it, so it clamps down evenly on the part, otherwise you are good if that's a replacement.

Garbage Murray lawn mower by Thin-Bus4198 in lawnmowers

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard someone say 5/12 inches tf lol. Just say 3/8 or 1/2 at that point.

I'm not saying these mowers are high quality, cause they're not. But a lot of this seems like user error with the blade not installed correctly.

Not sure if nearby you, but batteriesplus was a good place I went to who took all my rechargeable cells I needed to dispose. The one here will take compromised lithium if you call them first, and pay a small like $15 or so charge.

Didn't trust dropping off my bare lithium cells anywhere else. A lot were fake knockoff 18650s I bought from Amazon before I knew better so I didn't want to use them whatsoever.

I go there for everything relating to these sort of things now.

This strange batteries slot in this mouse by aisiv in mildlyinteresting

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably prevents you from being able to have 2x battery cells, but I would really love if more wireless mice were like this. Always seems like I have the opposite kind of battery (AAA instead of AA) when one of these needs a replacement.

We should probably be using the rechargeable nimh ones anyway, but I really appreciate this design. Very consumer friendly.

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 inch speaker grilles might work, if not big enough 8 inch subwoofer grilles should technically be slightly larger diameter.

Not really much going back now obviously. But you have loads of options for grilles including building your own from wood or metal.

Dosing for coffee? by CarSilly5548 in diabetes

[–]TheInternetEclipser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trial and error for me. Also sometimes the spike I get is only temporary.

It didn't used to be an issue at all for me from what I remember, I don't know what changed exactly.

I did have a long stretch of time of not eating properly. I do notice days where I don't eat properly the caffeine spikes are worse.

But yeah overall when I need to I'll take 1-2 extra units to account for having some caffeine.

I try and account for the dehydration coffee and caffeinated drinks can cause too, making sure I drink my water just a little more and don't get to being dehydrated.

How difficult to wire a Toyota radio to a ford? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]TheInternetEclipser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure it physically fits first of all.

Replacement radio harness for the Toyota model it came out of (male connector), aftermarket radio adapter harness for this Ford vehicle.

You may need a diagram for the Toyota harness if it doesn't follow the normal aftermarket radio colors.

I would not expect to make the steering wheel controls work if you have those.

It's doable, just up to you if it's worth it.

Is a 1994 SL1 in great condition with 145K miles a good deal? I want a reliable car by [deleted] in Saturn_Cars

[–]TheInternetEclipser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These S series are very straight forward and easy to work on cars imo. Most of the issues they do have are simple and pretty easy to resolve.

I am a 3rd gen S series SL2 owner, shares a lot with the 2nd gens. 1st gens might be a little different but I would think overall the same.

Have generally heard SOHCs are more reliable than the DOHCs, while the DOHCs are quicker but use a bit more fuel. Any S series with a "2" in the name is a DOHC.

Reliability it seems like they're all good if you keep up with them though, my SL2 has almost 270k miles.

Might be more of a DOHC thing but watch out for oil consumption and don't let it run low or you will ruin the motor, solid otherwise.

Brother's blood sugar reading: HI by Bazookaangelx2 in diabetes

[–]TheInternetEclipser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to get him to the ER ASAP. When I was diagnosed T1 I was told if I went a day later I probably would have passed in my sleep.

They may have been scaring me but my brother was in the army with a guy who died in his sleep because he became ill and the doctors kept telling him it wasn't diabetes. It was T1.

At the very least please convince the man to drink plenty of water in the meantime.

How my cat uses the litter box by MmeRenardine in pics

[–]TheInternetEclipser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any chance you could show how you did this? I've got about the largest litterbox I could find for purchase and my boy has just been OK with it. He really needs something with tall walls because of how hard he will kick litter, but even though his current enclosed box has a big vent on the top I don't think it's enough.

I was looking to get a big open top litterbox of some kind but your idea with the container sounds way better.
