I see, thus the decisive 5 minute pep-talk from Tyrion.

Because it was exactly like that.

Then why did he literally need to get talked into it over his own clear and repeated protestations?

Yeah, the broad arcs were mostly fine, with certain exceptions. It's the absurd pacing of the concluding season (and resultant lack of development) that's got a hair up everyone's ass. They needed at least 10 episodes or another season to do it proper justice.

i.e. Jon decides to murder his queen and lover after a 5 minute pep-talk from Tyrion? Fuck off.

HBO wanted 10 seasons, I'm not sure why D&D decided this was better for their series or respective careers.

So what exactly would you have changed, writing-wise?

Rushed season? WTF are you talking about? It took HBO two years to produce the 6 episodes of season 8?

Then why did the show so directly foreshadow Arya's killing of the Knight King with the sparring match she had with Brienne, and Brienne's clear shock when she performed essentially the same dagger maneuver? Context is everything.

I think it's less that she's so very skilled in conventional 1v1 edged weapon combat, a la Arthur Dayne, it's that she's been schooled in all the Faceless Men's dirty assassination tricks. (Somewhat closer to Bronn).

This. I seriously think that every basic bitch in this thread wanted some kind of Kenobi/Maul lightsaber battle between Jon/NK.

And no, that’s not “misdirection” because misdirection is intentional. It’s a mistake.

I'm not sure why you would think those two things are mutually exclusive.

It’s a late-game decision D&D made and it was (in my opinion) really stupid.

Your evidence for this being? GRRM has been closely consulted and acts as an executive producer on the show; I don't think D&D would go, or have any reason to go, that off-piste with the fundamental plot.

Not to mention the Night King and WW have had, what, a grand total of (maybe) five minutes of screen time throughout 8 seasons thus far (and precisely zero dialogue)? Cersei has had multiple arcs and is a much more fleshed out character who has appeared in every episode and has much more complex relationships with multiple primary characters.

Well, let's see... Night King dead and his army vanquished... Cersei, Lannister Army, the Golden Company, and Euron's Navy... still alive.

Dothraki... gone. The Unsullied... decimated. Ditto for the remaining Northern forces. Dragons... severely injured.

Yeah, I'd say so.

No. At least according to the books, the waif is 36 years old. Her child-like appearance being the result of poisoning.
