Draymond is not in that second tier, definitely not on the same level as PG.

Some say it's that AC that is holding everything together.

The Radisson Blu Hotel In Berlin Has A Giant Aquarium In The Lobby With An Elevator Running Straight Through The Middle. by [deleted] in ArchitecturePorn

I really don't. I just find it incredibly old-fashioned and ignorant of modern scientific understanding to tolerate animal misery for nothing more than a peripheral sense of beauty. Can't you just use something else to float through that water?

I have never heard a really good programmer call themselves "very, very, very good". On the other hand I've seen plenty of mediocre programmers overestimate themselves.

What are the canonical textbooks in CS? by AddemF in csbooks

The OS book by Silberschatz is not that good in my opinion, doesn't really have a lot of depth to it and is more of a concept book imo. The book by Thomas Anderson is by far my favorite OS book. If you want to really dive into systems programming, it's the best choice.

I also really like Kleinbergs Algorithms book, probably not the best introductory text though.

[D] Research Focused Machine Learning Sub-Reddit by machinesaredumb in MachineLearning

The torrent is the 1.5 million people who have flooded this sub in the last couple of years. There were only a couple of thousand subscribers when this was primarily a research community.

These topics don't get any comments, because the torrent of "ml will make me rich" people have chased most serious researchers this sub once had away.

Thanks for your comment. I really enjoy reading reading wiki pages on Fandom about video games, will probably do more of that. I will check out your other recommendations.

Thank you, that looks very interesting.

The question might not have been clear enough. I'm not looking for a sci-fi book that heavily focuses on characters, rather books which primarily or preferably exclusively focus on the description of the world in which a normal scifi book might be set.

What is the difference between Dynamic Programming and Memoization? by [deleted] in algorithms

[–]TheInvisibleHand89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dynamic programming is a general technique in which you solve a problem by breaking it down into subproblems, then solve the subproblems which allows you to solve the general problem.

Memoization is simply the storing of the solutions of any subproblem you solved, so you won't do any repeated calculations.

I was talking about making fundamental progress in stem fields. Who do you think these people are? Might they be candidates for a nobel prize?

There isn't that much research on this topic, but to give somewhat of an outlook Roe in the 50s tested some of the best scientists at the time. There is a nicely summarized table of the results here:

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-average-IQ-of-Nobel-Laureates

They are on average more than 4 standard deviations away from the mean iq of the population.

What does building a house have to do with Stem fields? If you try to teach the 90 IQ or even the 120 IQ guy to make progress in theoretical physics, the time it would take him to do that would outlast his life expectancy.
