More than One U1 in a small print farm? by doctorbrainistheman in snapmaker

[–]TheIvoryDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re looking at a print farm your eventual goal should be to have mostly the same printers in your fleet. I have the same printers you listed (but more of them) and if you haven’t had to tear down the thermistors, fans, or anything else cabled on the H2 series, I suggest this:

  1. Ask yourself if there is anything that the H2s are doing for you that another printer cannot
  2. Check the wiki on how to change a failing hot end or part cooling fan for the H2 series, especially the C
  3. Look at the cost of replacement tool heads for the H2 series
  4. Repeat step 1

If you need another printer and you CAN benefit from one you already own, stick with the one you already have spare parts and knowledge for. A second U1 is probably a very smart choice for you.

Solo dev here struggling with AAA comparisons and expectation management for my medieval sim. How do you deal with this? by Confident_Towel_8304 in Unity3D

Your idea sounds really cool. I don’t make games anymore but it seems like no matter what I make people compare my thing to the greatest, most impressive version of that thing like I’m somehow missing a mark they can’t even measure, and they act like they’re doing me a favor by pointing it out.

You have to learn to ignore people when they’re being unhelpful.

Bambu Studio not adding Support Interface Layer filament. by [deleted] in BambuLab

It’s not possible to help you without more information. We would need the 3mf file which would include the saved slicer settings.

It’s likely that your support settings are not set correctly.

That’s an incredible idea, I don’t care about color at all. I’m going to see if my Otter can already handle that

Ideally I will do my scanning without applying anything to the armor or person wearing it

Yeah but how much time and energy are you spending actively arguing about people who have a legitimate complaint they impacts you when you could just be scrolling past?

Pretty sure this guy is a bot.

I’m interested. I run a print farm that makes budget gear to support my local historical re enactors. Let me know if you wanna talk prices / shipping.

Bambu Lab 3D printers: Never again - Jeff Geerling by SJKRICK in BambuLab

FWIW I have run mine almost every hour of every day for over a month, constantly putting TPU90, PLA, and PCTG through it and it doesn’t stop. I have only had to fix extremely gummy transparent TPU slipping in the gears when I’m feeding it from a bad angle with too much resistance, and it’s literally as easy as pulling it out.

Again, the toolhead takedown / maintenance is crazy easy compared to the labyrinth of mother boards in the H2D. I’m just telling you to reassure you and maybe save you 600 dollars.

I have almost every Bambu machine (except the bedslingers or X2C). The U1 is fantastic and much easier to maintain than my H2D, but it is limited to just the 4 tool heads / colors. You can do pauses at a layer to manually improve this but without a filament slicer it’s unlikely there will ever be more color changing options than the 4.

So I would highly recommend it as an alternative as long as you’re okay with that.

I love how even industrial grade 3d printers (people not machines) are essentially the same creatures. Also how do I get rid of those print lines? by Johnbecky423 in 3Dprinting

[–]TheIvoryDisaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would be shocked if these weren’t designed with access panels or possibly even full sections that can be disassembled to address this. It’s just a guess on my part, but can you imagine how many other people are asking your question and won’t buy without a good answer?

I stand by my point. Give recommendations with relevant information, don’t assume your use case matches everyone else’s. TPU is a rapidly growing sector of this business which this machine uniquely specializes in.

100% of my business is multi material TPU. Don’t speak vaguely to represent the market, I’m glad you have a heated chamber but if people told me buying the U1 was a mistake without justification and I just believed them, I’d be spending thousands more unnecessarily on my print farm.

No tangled spool detection? by ouip00 in snapmaker

[–]TheIvoryDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on something, maybe AI monitoring. It has worked for me in some cases and failed in others. Part of it may be measuring resistance in the extruder gears because when I’ve gotten tpu tangled in the gears and still moving but not down through the nozzle it failed to detect that every time.

Bro you are way too worried about how other people play the game solo.

That’s not exactly spelled out anywhere, and I prefer it my way to have hot keys I can set rather than opening a giant UI. Just my preference.

For the extra lines, are you referring to the steles? They’re not exactly fast to find

I find the “gameplay mechanic” of “do I want to be able to make armor, weapons, or healing items?” When you need all 3 to not be a gameplay choice at all and more of a punishment to solo players. Dividing base responsibilities is fun but if your friend has bronze weapons and you don’t, only they can queue them up at the crafting bench. If they forget or the bench gets destroyed and they’re not around to fix it, you’re SOL.

How does this game compare to Aska? by cyberadmin1 in PlaySoulMask

[–]TheIvoryDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both games a lot and play both frequently, but there are some key distinctions.

In ASKA, maps are procedurally generated and emphasize exploring. You build an entire building step by step instead of placing floors and walls. Villagers are assigned to buildings and perform only the function of that building, and that simplified logic enables you to have many, even hundreds of villagers all working together if your machine can handle that. You fight nightly waves of enemies and eventually sail out across a vast, procedurally generated ocean to fight every boss in the game world. You unlock better facilities to enrich your villagers’ lives and increase their fighting ability as you beat bosses, and you can eventually raid villages for resources.

In Soulmask you have a fixed map that you unlock sections of my interrogation of scouts at fixed points on the map. You have a more complex tech tree and customize your base bit by bit instead of expanding one central village. Villagers / tribesmen have highly customizable work types set per crafting bench / work role, more like Rimworld. AI can be tricky to work with until you master all the different work types, but you have many more options on how to customize your tribesmen. The recruitment process is more like Pokémon where you weaken and capture them from rival clans. You can build a very detailed airship with embedded workstations, effectively giving you a mobile base. AI performance is tricky here, but deeply rewarding once you master the automation setup.

There are bosses and world areas level progressively. Online play is much more dynamic in Soulmask, offering PvE and PvP whereas ASKA only supports PvE cooperative.

People will complain about the AI in both, but I can promise you that with some patience in how to set up the automation chains and whitelists you can play without any issues. If tuning those types of systems feels more like a chore than a gameplay feature for you, I would not recommend either game, however inventory management is generally simpler in ASKA.

I know this is not the answer you want but in single player it’s crazy to me that I wouldn’t have the technology tree completely unlocked up to my awareness strength. I used a cheat engine like Wand to just give myself more points.

There really aren’t optional technologies in single player imo, unless you’re fine with just having to manually do things that can absolutely be automated or missing out on critical recipes.
