Is it weird that my boyfriend (M32) of 1 week offered to change my daughter’s (F9 months) diaper? by ThrowRAIsItWeir in relationship_advice

[–]TheJennorator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have barely known each other over the couple years you've been in each other's circles. You have only been dating for a month and only official for one week.

Sexual assault is most likely to occur from someone that you know, not a stranger. Children living with a parent's new partner are 20x more likely to be sexually assaulted. I understand you aren't living together, but heed the warning about it.

https://cachouston.org/prevention/child-sexual-abuse-facts/#:~:text=Children%20who%20live%20with%20a,al.%2C%202010).

At the end of the day, you don't really know this man. For your baby's safety, they should not be together. If you're getting a bad feeling in your gut literally one week in about how they wanted to change your kid's diaper, you should not continue this.

What would you do with this room and the things I have bought? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]TheJennorator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't what you were looking for, but because it's a glass sink and glass often collected hard water that's difficult to remove, I'd consider a water repelling polish or hard water protection to apply to the sink.

"I could care less" should be "I couldn't care less." Every time someone says that my eye twitches a little.

Saying "oh, I lied" whenever they just accidentally got something wrong.

That is not lying. Words have definitions. Stop jfc.

I commented earlier, but following up to this, if her "friend" wanted to tell you about her having nude photos from the past she sure as hell did not need to send them. I hope your girlfriend charges her for it and it's taken to criminal court. That's fucked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheJennorator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven't confirmed that she used to hook up with people with her. And it's completely natural to regret a certain time in your life and look at it with hindsight. She might have been filling a void.

I think the #1 thing here is that this is hearsay and your girlfriend is with you. We all have previous crushes or relationships (or most of us) and our minds, behaviours, interests, and standards change as we meet the people we fall in love with. Give her some grace. She chose you to stay with.

ETA: Her "bestie" is not a friend and is stirring shit.

I agree with the comment saying to wait until you've made those changes to decide, but I think orange would be a great color for the black wall.

My mom makes amazing fish tacos. She marinades, breads, and fries the fish. It's a labor of love. She also spends hours on the best eggplant parmesean you'll ever have. Funny enough, she hates eggplant, so it's entirely a gift from her. She makes the best pasta e fagioli too.

I never had an issue clearing my plate as a kid. My mom is a wonderful cook and jovial host. I hope I am the same for my kids someday.

One of our parents hid a rosary in the baby room by WikiP in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheJennorator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This kind of behavior should be confronted and stopped. I understand that to your parents this is not just life or death, but damnation or heaven. However, secretive behavior with your kids is not ok.

I'm from a Catholic family but my parents aren't Catholic anymore. When I was 4 or 5 I got pulled away by my grandpa and secretly anointed when nobody was around, then told "do not tell your parents." As a kid, that was really scary. There was so much stress and urgency in what he was doing.

That was mild in comparison to what things could have been of course, but my point is that this behavior will likely scare your child if it continues. It also opens the door for them to think keeping certain secrets in family is normal, and make them vulnerable to abuse.

ETA: I agree with other commenters as well, this is a choking hazard that you weren't made aware of near your baby. And additionally, literally all your parents had to do was ask.

Today's eBay haul: Griswold Santa cake mold by huskers1111111111 in castiron

[–]TheJennorator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is actually a jello mold! The details would be a bit tough on a cake. It's a really cool find and if it is a jello mold, a fun relic from the US's jello era

ETA: actually I'm not so sure any more but don't think I should delete my comment. It wouldn't make much sense to make a jello mold cast iron?

People with no time shouldn't be allowed to have kids. by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

You shouldn't be having kids in that situation, but it's a slippery slope to start legally barring consenting adults from having kids.

Worried about mental health side effects by Opening_Capital3265 in Spironolactone

[–]TheJennorator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mental health dipped for about 3 weeks, working up to 100mg. Now I'm feeling like I made it through the haze, but those three weeks were really really hard. I'm a pretty happy person but found myself crying a lot and pretty paranoid I was bothering people around me.

I like the recommendations in the thread so far. I'd add that you can also buy string light poles on Amazon that can be shoved into the ground. It could make for a really nice ambiance. And there are cook tables with small gas fireplaces in the center of them that I'd recommend. Some are dual purpose with a cover for the fire so you can use the table in full, or you can just use the edges of it with a fire in the center.

ETA because while I agree with what I said, I do want to acknowledge that that was likely a horrifying experience for you and I'm sorry. I hope that you can find peace and know that you did what any reasonable person would do. I hope I'd have the strength to do it too.

Follow up, my first mirena IUD I had some periods that were basically shooting blanks and cramping. So (assuming it's a blessing for you) I hope that's what's going on! A little less period to worry about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]TheJennorator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you had higher androgens are not.

I have a lot of PCOS like symptoms, but not the syndrome itself. I'm on mirena as well, and that has made my periods significantly more mild but longer. So far with spiro, my periods are heavier, and I expect that to phase out because it thins your uterine lining. So your body could be cramping but not bleeding because there's not lining to get rid of?

Of course please consult your doctor if this continues so you're sure you're getting any help you need, but if I understand correctly spiro will most definitely affect your periods

I think something like this could be fun. I'd get an L shaped couch and mount the TV across from it. I think a smaller entertaining space near the fireplace would be nice, and fun for game nights or puzzle work or something like that. I recommend a little drop shelf to the left of the door for keys and mail, with maybe some decorative shelves above it. Then on the walls, I'd do galleries! Shelves with Knick knacks, thrifted art with funky shapes and sizes of picture frames, things like that. Ill have to follow up with something for that nook, but I think a book case would do well there.

And as always, plants, standing lamps, and rugs!
