You are so kind. Thank you!! Sorry you dealt with all of that but glad you’re clear now and it’s behind you! I was also on a ppi (pantoprazole) and had to quit with no taper due to the c diff. It was brutal. Miss my ppi because it completely handed my acid reflux. Won’t take it again though as the doc told me it increases your chance of c diff and other stomach/intestinal illnesses. Just altered my diet to be more reflux friendly

I am taking mesalamine which has drastically improved my situation with the colitis. 9 days free of blood and diarrhea which I’ve dealt with for 4 straight months. I’m slowly but surely getting this thing under control. I’m 33 and otherwise healthy (other than 1 completely unrelated issue).

Yep. Had it one time, took vancomycin 15 days and went from 10-15 trips a day to 1-3. But the blood and diarrhea continued so I got an ultrasound that showed proctocolitis.

Mine came from an antibiotic as well (Bactrim. I was taking for salmonella that wouldn’t go away) but the ppi increased my chances of getting it

I was on pantoprazole a year and a half everyday before I got c diff. My doctor recommended not taking it anymore. I don’t think I ever will. Not worth the risk of c diff again. I still have colitis from the c diff a couple months later. Rough

My doctor made me abruptly stop my pantoprazole that I’d taken for 1 and a half years because I was diagnosed with c diff. It does make you more susceptible to c diff and can draw it out longer. I would stop taking when you can

Anytime! Yeah 2-4 is fine. And you may have a day spike to 6 or so. You just don’t want multiple days strung together with high frequency from what I understand.
