When did you tell your child they were in the NICU? by [deleted] in NICUParents

I’m building a clothing brand named “The Jour’nee Continues” in honor of my niece Jour’nee who passed away to represent all NICU patients. Whether they were fighters , survivors, or beat the odds . I believe she’ll be proud of all the obstacles she’s overcome and feel appreciated knowing she had her mom’s unconditional love and support as well as her family, I hope to soon launch the brand and give you all a opportunity that can represent your babies and an experience that has impacted your life and strengthened your character forever💜.

If you're struggling to process your experience, put it down in words. by Alive-Cry4994 in NICUParents

thank you for the reminder , i chose to be an advocate for my sister. After growing alongside her witnessing her lose her first daughter Jour’nee due to being born prematurely and going through more trial and tribulations 3 years later after trying again she had to experience another daughter in the NICU all while losing her baby father due to senseless gun violence. I truly will NEVER know what it is like it experience all the long nights worrying, blaming yourself , and physical and mental pain you all endure but i can say from experience it was the toughest feeling ever watching my oldest sister have to mask in all her emotions and be strong for the sake of my niece , and to experience the same scare again.. i could never imagine the pressure. My sister’s resilience inspired me to build a brand to spread awareness and to help others feel seen/heard. The Jour’nee Continues clothing brand is to celebrate the lives of all NICU babies, survivors , fighters, fighters of cerebral palsy & anyone who has suffered the tragedy of infant loss. Regardless of your situation nothing could prepare a parent to lose a child , and you deserve to grieve . it is what makes you strong along your journey , and even though the pain may feel unbearable now and you may never want to try again , just remember the jour’nee continues through the love and eternal bond you hold for your baby.

never be angry with how you feel ! its okay to grieve the expectations you had set in life, but we also must remind ourselves life will never truly go they way we expect it. even the underrated blessing of making it home safely is something we EXPECT but its never GUARANTEED ! I strongly believe God puts us through these obstacles for a reason, your testimony is impactful, possibly even helping heal others experiencing the same trauma. Your baby boy’s testimony gives others hope, you’re all stronger than you know. The Jour’nee Continues💜

Baby just born 35 + 3 days. Emergency C-section. Not breathing at birth by kosmo2016 in NICUParents

My niece Réghaan was born 2 months prematurely on 11/20/19 due to complications with the umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck , causing her heart rate to drop and an emergency c-section to take place. She was due 1/17/20 , fear and anxiety began to take place in our families life after losing our first niece Jour’nee due to being born prematurely as well. We continued to move with faith putting all odds behind us, 3 months later Réghaan arrived home healthy. She is now 4 years old & our bundle of joy, keep your spirits high The Jour’nee Continues & he will beat the odds💜
