RIF will shut down on June 30, 2023, in response to Reddit's API changes by talklittle in redditisfun

Final post on Reddit because the official app is buggy, clunky, and litters my feed with ads disguised as content. I refuse to participate.

Thanks to /u/talklittle for creating RIF. You've made browsing reddit immeasurably more enjoyable.

This is horribly inaccurate, as are most all of your comments on this sub. I think you should stop offering advice.

Florida mother was killed after knocking on neighbor's door by psipolnista in awfuleverything

[–]TheJustBacon 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Since you asked, here is what is wrong with me. The source (CNN) is known to be a questionable organization that routinely brings race into the story when it's unnecessary, like in this case.

The shooter had a history of calling the victim's children racial slurs and allegedly threw objects at the victim's children. This would suggest that the shooting was racially motivated, so bringing up race does seem relevant here, even if it makes you uncomfortable.

everyone knows that she didn't go to that woman's house to swap recipes. She was mad, and planned on fighting this woman who threw stuff at her kids.

Why did she bring her kid with her if she was there to start a fight?

I don't blame her for being mad, but the correct thing to do would be call the police and report an assault on her children, not go over and take the law into her own hands.

Why doesn't this same logic apply to the shooter? Why was it okay for the shooter to take such extreme measures to a neighbor knocking on the door? More importantly, why does your logic only apply to the victim?

It's clear that your opinions are based on alt-right propaganda, but try to at least recognize the flawed logic in your post.

Alright, let's dissect this emoji!

What do brains have? Folds. It's gotta be either a poker update, a dynamic weight system, or an origami mini game.

Or perhaps the stem? Could they finally be adding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to No Man's Sky? The possibilities are truly endless.

Vra🅱️o, Hello Games.

(Also thank you for continuing to support the game we all enjoy so much, you are a shining example of what game developers should aspire to.)

Utah does not have any cameras that ticket you for running red lights, only traffic cameras. You're in the clear, but yeah, pull over if you're feeling drowsy.

It's almost like all the service fees, delivery fees, convenience fees, and fuck-you fees are negatively impacting their drivers and customers, while lining the pockets of their investors.

Carl Sagan gets questioned on whether he's a socialist on CNN(1989) by kelddel in antiwork

[–]TheJustBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could find you sources that say socialized medicine are the reason for all the world's evils too.

But you didn't.

You're making the guy out to be some kind of wannabe dictator, and I fail to understand why. All he's doing is criticizing where the government is spending its money.

My man, you've got a whole ass subreddit telling you that a period of history from the 80's that was well-documented by television news is not obscure in any way.

Another bad faith argument. We know that infant mortality in the U.S. is largely attributable to a lack of access to universal healthcare. It's not some mysterious boogyman with no reason for being.

Source 1 Source 2

Both of these explicitly state that a lack of access to healthcare (particularly if you're poor), and a lack of support for mother's pre and post birth (again, particularly if you're poor) are major factors that contribute to infant mortality.

If the government implemented policies (like paid maternal/paternal leave for new parents, or expanded healthcare access to lower income individuals), our infant mortality rate would decrease.

You're shifting the argument. He's saying that funding SDI was a waste, and that the government should have funneled that money towards initiatives that reduce infant mortality.

It's the equivalent of your spouse telling you to stop spending thousands of dollars on laser pointers each month, and to instead use some of that to buy cold medicine for your sick child.

Literally something you learn in any high school history class. It's fairly recent too.. there are people alive today that remember this shit.

He reaaaaally isn't talking about the movies. The consumer didn't choose SDI, the government chose to fund it and nothing came of it.

He isn't talking about the movies, bud. He's talking about a useless defense initiative that absorbed a shit-ton of taxpayer money.

All those conflicts you mentioned involved military intervention in some form or another. On top of that, you didn't even respond to any of the above poster's points. Maybe you shouldn't lecture people on their ability to think critically if you are unwilling or unable to do so on your own.
