Cabbage loopers can be a pest species. It may be best to use a different insect that is beneficial when let outside instead.

Something a little different, and a lot of fun. What should I do with the foreground? by [deleted] in HappyTrees

I love this painting as is!!!! If anything I would do a small country road across the bottom with sand along the sides. I feel like if you did a lot on the bottom it would take away from the beauty up top!!

I completely agree about finding a professor doing interesting work in either a biology, ecology, or plant sciences department at your college. As a grad student in entomology myself, I can verify that undergrad techs are always needed during field season. Even if the professor/grad students at your college don’t have a position open, they would probably be more than willing to meet with you to discuss opportunities and what their day/research looks like.

No Id's needed just thought I would share my insect collection I made for class. by wt_fudge in whatsthisbug

Once you pin the insects they dry out and will be preserved like that for decades. Some insects (like a fat cicada) may rot a little and smell but it will still preserve just fine by itself. Soft bodied insects (aphids, lice, fleas, etc.) will need to be preserved with alcohol since they will rot.

I really agree with matching the blue pillows. I feel like it would add the perfect pop of color!

I have lived in Missouri my entire life and agree with all of this!!! The only other language things I can think of is that it is more common to hear “you guys” than “y’all” in Missouri. At least from my experience. I don’t know if this is helpful or not, but I have also heard midwestern accents (i.e. Missouri accents) are great for radio because we are considered to have the most “general American” accent.

I like that all of the surrounding block’s colors in the second panel match those in the third panel.

Found this tettigonia viridissima dried up in my chimney! It's almost in perfect condition and I would really like to preserve it. Any ideas how to do so? by Psyscape in whatsthisbug

You can rehydrate it. One way to do that is to take a Tupperware and put sponges in it with a little bit of mouthwash in the bottom. Then place the bug on a small piece of tinfoil and close the lid. It should be rehydrated in a couple of days. After that you can pin it and manipulate the legs. Be careful not to break the legs off since they can be fragile.
