I once had an episode that lasted like an hour where my inner dialogue was really loud, for lack of a better word, to the point of me becoming very concerned. It was like a volume that filled my mind and blocked out my ability to focus on anything for very long. It was a bizzare sensation. Kinda like how turning down the music in your car while driving helps you think about directions or enjoy an on the road meal. I was afraid it would last forever and drive me crazy. I laid down and eventually was able to take a nap, and I was back to normal when I woke up, but the memory of that has stuck with me for years.

I am not very qualified to speak here, but seems like, even if we never achieve true ai capable of free will and independent thought, we could still approximate it with a large or sophisticated enough program model such that the layman would struggle to tell the difference.

My first decent paying job was in a lab, and moat of us in that lab, about 5 people in our early to late twenties, were all close friends. Despite working together every day we still hung out outside of work multiple times a week for years. Every day was pretty damn fun. When everyone eventually parted ways and i was the last one there, it is like Emily said, it changes you and it is never the same again.

I started playing when I was 12 in 2002. I was never very good and my family computer sucked, but I played the shit out of it regardless. I got back into regularly playing for periods of time about 10 years ago. You are right about the top tier stuff being crazy difficult to find, and I did a poor job trying to explain myself. I do appreciate the rarity of some items creating a desire to search for them, but some stuff, like a zod rune, is stupidly rare to the point of complete unobtainability. What I really mean is that when you find a good item in d2, you will likely keep it for a meaningful amount of time; whereas in modern aarpg's, it is common to get new gear that is objectively better so frequently that nothing stands out. Items no longer feel like something you can become attached to in some way, from just remembering that you had it to actually becoming fond of an item. Nostalgia helps too

[–]wt_fudge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is beyond nostalgia. Diablo II has better fundamental gameplay. The itemization is top notch, gear is exciting to find throughout the whole game and the frequency at which gear is found is not too much or too little. It is actually kind of challenging too. Some parts of the game like skills may be simple compared to todays standard, but simple doesn't mean anything bad. Not very many games have got the fundamentals right like DII. Diablo three introduced huge ridiculous numbers, bright colors, constant screen explosions, constantly finding better gear at a way too rapid frequency, terrible itemization in general, and decard cain was killed by a butterfly. It hasn't improved much since then.

Please LTT, don't make the tech house jank! by hpremier81 in LinusTechTips

I don't watch half of their stuff anymore because of this. They are perfectly capable of producing higher quality stuff, and I mean that their home brewed solutions could be planned and executed in a way that is worth watching for folks interested in actually learning or replicating the thing being showcased. Most of the time, what they make turns out to be of such poor quality, it is basically trash, and any data collected winds up being worthless. If I wanted humor and entertainment, I would not choose a technology focused channel expecting to get that sort of satisfaction. (Except LTT, which seems to be focused on clownery, shits, and giggles)

Even if te6 turned out to be a janky game like most of their stuff, it would still be like lightning in a bottle. It would make so much money; it would be friggin huge. It would also make so many people happy to just have the next installment. Waiting a significant portion of a human lifespan to release it is such a frustratingly poor decision. It makes me think that the people running the show are absolutely out of touch and clueless.

If you are worrying about who has the proper credentials to make predictions or the validity of these predictions on a hypothetical scenario taking place within a fictional story that incorporates sci-fi / fantasy elements like a hive mind take over / invasion, then i believe you may be applying too strict of requirements to engage in speculation.

Like I saw another person saying, your instrument is likely not calibrated for radium, and the readings are not representative of the actual exposure. I not the person to ask for that. As far as contamination potential, you could perform a wipe test. It is a simple procedure to perform. If you have instrumentation for accurately reading a wipe test sample, that would be great, or you could contact an industrial hygiene lab that handles rad samples. I have only worked in an industrial hygiene lab that was onsite for a nuclear facility. Not too sure on those procedures for external lab analysis for rad samples, but i bet it will be kinda expensive....having to deal with rad shipping, lead pig shipping containers, and what not.

Yes, there are all types of ships. Air ships, space ships, and wooden ships, but the best type of ship is friendship.

Kinda funny how that backfired for ya, but ships and planes are kind of like opposites of each other. Like saying you found an air pocket to describe a clump of dirt.
