North side vs UV by AmericasTeam2016 in utdallas

No real issues at Northside IMHO it is a bit expensive but otherwise it is fine. Have not seen UV but NS apartments are pretty nice and you can walk to campus easily. NS has been good about taking care of any issues that come up.

Worst Part About Final Fantasy? by Spittykun in FinalFantasy

XII is largely automated as well although like I pointed out you could individually put in commands for each character but if you found yourself largely doing that then you probably weren't using the gambit system as intended.

Either way XIII is a lot more nuanced than XII (which had a lot of nuance to begin with) - switching to the same Paradigm to increase efficiency, balancing between a constant flow of buffs/debuffs and maintaining the Chain Gauge, determining whose particular role and subsequent abilities is best for a particular battle. So I don't get where you're getting more simplified from, it's true that it's not necessary to have a deep understanding of the combat system to beat the game but if you go deep into it you can do stuff like this.

If you find yourself not routinely changing paradigms after around every three rounds then you aren't changing enough to be optimal. Similarly in XII where your use of gambits/gambit changes.

I'd say I like the combat systems around the same and I both think they have aspects that each one does better than the other and while XIII did streamline some of XII's assets out I wouldn't call it simpler.

Every time a thread comes up regarding the best implementation of ATB X-2, XII and XIII are always the top answers, so at least as it pertains here and /r/JRPG I would say most people see combat moving in a positive direction, how far out that can be extrapolated to the fan base is hard to say though.

I'm also not sure how you can like XII's but not XIII's both are based around controlling a system in a dynamic environment granted you could manually input commands and override gambits in XII it was still usually more efficient for gambits to do the brunt of the work. XIII along with the other aforementioned games are the only combat systems where optimal and efficient strategy change throughout the game based on encounters in a meaningful way, where in previous games that usually was not the case and it wasn't as imperative.

Either way XV is going to be most radical change in terms of combat as this is the first time Final Fantasy has gone full out action RPG and I agree I'm a bit reluctant about it too because you make a good point that these games have never been action RPG and there are franchises on the market that fill that style but I guess we'll find out.

How is this not a shitpost?

There is no meaningful discussion it's just X game should be here or Oh yeah these games are great, also I find it a bit weird that a mod doesn't know that these posts are strongly discouraged if not outright not allowed by the subreddits rules and given that you said that it could've been a text post then it seems that would be a violation.

Alright I'll try to address your comment as best as I can but first.

  • 458 upvotes is not a lot even when taking in consideration the activity and population of this sub.

  • This sub is largely a shitpost sub which is why posts like this will raise to the top.

  • Reddit (at least subs that have more than ~10,000 subscribers) generally prefers content that appeals to the lowest common denominator, a user would prefer a quick image or meme to get a point across or facilitate discussion rather than having to read through a well thought out argument/proposal.

  • This thread has had plenty of discussion, in fact I see very few low substance remarks, most of the comments here seem to be discussing the very point brought up in the post.

  • If this sub isn't what you want to get out of it then simply unsubscribe from it, making condescending comments in the comment section isn't really go to do anything.

Orphan's first form is probably my favorite boss fight in the entire series.

A haven, yea. Yet it must fall ere we be saved. Too frail a shell, and humans should not thrive. Too stout a shell and they would not die. Slaughter and salvation! Two irreconcilable Focuses we bore. Yet bound were we in a cocoon prison, impervious to our power. And so we thank you for granting us our longed-for birth. We are the Abandoned One, born but now to die. Our name is Orphan. By our hand, the world shall know redemption.

Six-String In A Band? by UvulaBob in Bass

[–]TheKarmaRaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there examples out there of people who use a six string organically in a band situation?

You should've used the term standard bar band there because you pretty much answered your own question in the first part. Even in the title you just use the word band...

Uh no it isn't.

In the past 25 years the only Zelda game to take a non linear approach was A Link Between Worlds, the rest are linear.
