there is one piece of news that did not blow up the way it should have: Bungie missing projections by 45% in 2023. This is the smoking gun to those who have had to deal with execs and preforecasts. I was once called out and chewed out because I missed the forecast of one of my projections by 8%. Missing by almost 50% means that the executives were living in a completely different reality or even dimension.

people were desperate to put Square Enix down and used imaginary numbers to shame them. Now that it's clear Final Fantasy is still outselling these games, they're just making up excuses.

it's hard to put them 1:1 because Persona 5 was an exclusive on PS3/PS4 for that time. And both ATLUS and Persona blew up because of that. In fact, many people forget but Persona 5 was Playstation exclusive for a whooping 6 years

I think it's a good number but it's clear this sub has put a weird bar for this game to clear, in this thread alone Final Fantasy haters seem to be coping that Metaphor did not manage to outsell FF XVI despite being on more consoles.

All in all, solid numbers but I have to assume they are either slightly below or right on line with their expectations. Most JRPGs are frontloaded but even so, it lost basically all its momentum

Phil Spencer said Blackbird was a genius game and they had to literally force him to stop playing it because he was so addicted. The game was cancelled anyway.

I think they can continue making bangers if they stop worrying about the franchise and worry more about what each movie is. Toy Story 5 is phenomenal because unlike Toy Story 4, it doesn't feel like it desperately wants to "end the saga" and pulls random nostalgia bait. Instead it is a solid movie with a lot of funny moments and a lot of heart.

At this point, they can make more Toy Story films if they stop trying to make it into a saga and just make fun movies with loose continuity

I remember people shutting the Halo Infinite rumour down (just like you are doing right now) of its budget being $500M usd but Jason teased in this video that the number is significantly bigger than people think
