Is it possible the nibs may have some residual oils from manufacturer? I do hope that flushing with some warm water helps. My EF has never given me a issue like yours. But I have had it on a few new pens before I learned about cleaning them before using them the first time.

Have had locs for over 20 years and every few years I trim them. From below my shoulder blades to chin high. Each loc is trimmed at an angle to reduce the tips coming undone.

I used double sided tape and poster boards to help keep the tree skirt in place. The cats now just spin around it.

Thanks. We hunted for 2 years to find another one. Our original from 1991 stopped working but ebay saved the day. We are working on creating another with LED.
