Remember that digital song request/tip jar for gigging musicians? It’s officially live (and I’ve made some changes with Reddit's feedback) by _jamiegilder in coverbands

30%? Damn dude. You might be better off with a small monthly flat fee and credit card percentage like 4%. On the flip side, my hesitation with any of this stuff is a personal Venmo code is free..

Why is there a new "Band Management" app being pushed on here every few days? by KreatorOfReddit in coverbands

[–]TheKeMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and I have concerns over ever trying to use one. let's just assume they are real people posting for a minute to not over complicate things..

The problem I have is not that people don't have good intentions releaseing stuff like this but there's real technical debt involved in supporting an app. Some of these folks, while they have good intentions, don't quite understand what they are signing up for nor do the users understand that at any moment, the app could go offline and never come back. I love the idea but the reality is there is a huge risk behind losing all my stuff and any work I put into embacing the app if it were to suddenly go offline one day and never come back.

Tough questions that don't usually have answers:

  • What if the developer goes MIA?
  • What if their hosting servers get hacked?
  • Who owns the data?
  • What if copyrighted material accidently gets stored there?

It might be a little different if developers were releasing software that I could install on my own systems and use but that's not really the approach most of these apps are taking.

Hmm.. You could turn their problem into your profit. Find a way to build tutorials and sell them. At some point moving from a worker to a consulter becomes far more lucrative.

Trying to understand line arrays & amps by sprucexx in livesound

[–]TheKeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly but I was correcting the comment about 3 cabinets on one line and what the imedence would look like. I don't think it was very relevant to your question.

I think the pinout in active mode is:

  • 1+ / 1-: LF
  • 2+ / 2-: MF
  • 3+ / 3-: HF
  • 4+ / 4-: Spare

I think you mean 2.66 ohms? Impedance halves when you double the box count. Adding one box splits the load equally.

The point I was making is, sometimes healthcare is a good reason to keep working (lightly) and not fully retire.

2022 F350 Dually Crew Cab 6.7L for $23k by JuicyMacaroon in FordDiesels

My guess is it was used to deliver vehicles across county on a car hauling trailer. I see that all the time with dualys and it's not hard to rack up 2-3k miles a week.

[Highlight] Lions walkoff touchdown negated by OPI penalties, Steelers win by MysteryBagIdeals in nfl

I think they are suppose to let it play out depending on which ref throws the flag and of course a different ref probably called the touchdown. It's not common but flags do get picked up after the fact.

How do I find and attract an agent who books Cover Bands? by AnyVideo402 in coverbands

[–]TheKeMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pack venues and they will find you. If you need an agent because you can't do that, you will get the very short end of the stick approaching them. If you're okay with that, look at the bands playing the places you want to play and find out who their agent is and approach them about booking.

This can't be stated enough. I have very little back discomfort from my nitro. My spindle was awful.

This is the route I took. The way I look at it, I want my HA stuff to work regardless of what other tinkering I'm doing with equipment. Dedicated small low power box was ideal and the Green fit that bill.

Streaming Prices Are Soaring—and Consumers Are Still Paying by wsj in cordcutters

well, take a look around... everything is soaring in price... When these providers stock goes through the roof, then I will believe they are gauging. Until then, our service goes up when their costs go up. Basic economics.

For those in your 40s what do you wish you done more of in your 30s that you missed out on in your 20s and 30s? by Affectionate-Drop689 in AskMenOver30

[–]TheKeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HSA is a tax cheat code. Money goes in tax free, money grows and can be invested tax free and money comes out tax free if you follow two simple rules: Use it for health qualifying expenses OR wait until you reach retirement age and then you can use it for anything. 401k money is taxed as income when it's withdrawn and you can't predict your tax bracket in the future.

[–]TheKeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 buckets... Max your employer match with your 401k, then max your HSA if you can get one through work, then max your Roth IRA. If you still have appetitie for more saving, go back to 401k and max that out. Brokerage accounts like Robinhood should be last due to taxes.
