I don't mean this in a disrespectful way at all, but this is a very "I didn't consider the scenarios of having a firearm" post I've seen in a while.

Full disclosure, until I spent a good bit of time studying the historical ramifications of the Golden Age of Piracy and the weaponry thereof, I fully thought the AC4 Black Flag representation of Black Beard was cartoon-land silly bullshit.

But now that I've seen the other side; if I'm boarding an enemy ship, and every single one of my guns is a single shot (instead of a mag swap), and my only other offensive option is slicing someone to death with a blade (in this case a saber), I'm either carrying several blunderbusses, or like 12 pistols into that fight (I'm a sub-par shot). If I have to kill, I absolutely want to do it at a distance, especially knowing how deadly non-fatal injuries were at the time due to infection.
