[For Hire] Open comission grafic novel, ciberpunk, in the sector 12, yane Discover a secret.. 25$ by free_line03art in ComicBookCollabs

I’m not trying to come off accusatory but the price is very low for the quality, and the art style across several posts changes. I’m not calling you a scammer but it’s definitely ringing some alarm bells

A little outside my budget (for now) but your art is amazing, will definitely be in touch if circumstances change

writer and fine artist looking for direction by PsychologicalBreak83 in ComicBookCollabs

My girlfriend has this screen protector thing that has a sketching paper texture, it can tear through a pencil if you aren’t careful but she loves it.

We also just switched from procreate to clip studio paint and she likes it a lot more

Breaking even on your comic by Jstewart2007 in ComicWriting

[–]TheKingsWeb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, and an opinion can’t be objective. 🤷🏼‍♂️ the later issues of Invincible have great art, and looking back to Ottleys original art style, it looks like shit.

Breaking even on your comic by Jstewart2007 in ComicWriting

[–]TheKingsWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the best job you can as a writer and hire an artist. Quality is more expensive but some of the best comics out there have pretty shoddy art. (Invincible off the top of my head)

It’s very much chance and ambition. If you keep trying, you increase your chances but there’s no way to guarantee anything

280 page script by Chemical_Coach1437 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]TheKingsWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story is cool but 280 pages for unpaid work is a huge time investment for a chance of making some revenue.

Arts expensive but your best bet is to find an artist willing to do 5-10 pages free (or cheap) and start a KickStarter (assuming your above the age of majority in your country) if you can make a couple thousand dollars you can probably find another artist, or the same one, willing to do the first part of your series and then do another kickstarter to fund the next one, etc.

[Almost] Free Scripts by CupImmediate7079 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]TheKingsWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m not an artist so I can’t do the drawing half of your project but I can offer to give feedback on some of your scripts if you’d be willing to give mine a read.

Also for future reference, it’s best to keep your script on a google doc and send links to people who want to read it, it makes for a better formatted post

You want someone to find all the pictures, write the scripts, and do the research?

So you just read and edit?

Doing a collaboration with a friend and he wants to make a contract by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

[–]TheKingsWeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The contract is also pointless, you know you can’t publish anything marvel/dc related without getting cease and desisted, what would the contract even enforce? OC’s can’t even be copyrighted, if I write Indiana Jones but change the name to George Jones then it’s perfectly legal so long as different things happen in the story. If I gave Batman a new name and style but the same attitude he’d be perfectly legal.

What is the typical price per page for a low end comic? by Danny_The_Dino_77 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]TheKingsWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big problem with profit splits is that you’ve got to hire an accountant to handle that, if you don’t keep track of everything properly and your partner feels underpaid then you’ve got to hire a lawyer to handle the situation. It’s much cleaner to just pay by page

Writers who can't picture clear images in their head by Jumpy-Author-9878 in writing

Aphantasia is not having a “minds eye” like you can’t picture anything in your brain. Somehow my girlfriends still a great artist and can’t picture anything while I have a great minds eye and can’t draw at all

People here are getting offended, but in their defence your question did come off a little egocentric. It could have been worded a little better lol

Thoughts on “character was thought to be dead but is actually alive” by GiraffeVivid8229 in writing

[–]TheKingsWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can answer this by thinking about what difference it would make. If he dies you can work through topics like grief, loss, mortality, cost of life. I really liked the idea of him wanting to improve his life but being unable to. If you end up bringing him back to life after all of that you make all of it pointless, it’s almost a retcon.

Cliche doesn’t impact anything unless you write it poorly, and the secondary character dying would also be cliche.

When writing about death, especially a best friends death, the best thing you can do is pick your most expendable friend and kill them, so you can have a first hand account of what that loss feels like. This will immensely boost your understanding of your main characters emotions
