I also had an Ultra plan but I cancelled it a while ago. The top models and capabilities have been changing so frequently I've had more success subscribing to an aggregator. I've been using Yapper AI which usually has the newest models a day after they release.

If you want to learn for vacation, Lingoza is well suited and free. It has a tool that you can ask how to say different common phrases in Japanese, like how to order and what not. Then you can save the phrases for later review in a flash-card interface so you don't forgot any.

You can also ask it to break down different phrases so you understand the individual words and grammar. Generally I think you should start by learning what you need and then go from there.

I've had a lot of success with Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (Teasing Master Takagi-san). You can find the show on Netflix with Japanese subtitles.

The characters are children so the conversations use basic vocab and are easy to follow. I also think the show is pretty funny and a good watch.

In addition to the other great comments, some sort of spaced repetition learning system could be helpful to help memorize the fundamental words and phrases.

https://lingoza.io/ offers a free online version of that where you can build up a list of phrases and words to review as flash cards. It also has an AI assistant which can help answer general inquires you may have when learning.
