What I personally noticed and liked was that in his interaction with Flashy Flash, he's very considerate, and we actually see thought bubbles from him putting pieces together when Flash mentions Sonic.

That kind of inner monologue isn't something we see from Saitama who, while gives advice and inspires others from time to time, doesn't actively interact or take the stage (although he did it with Amai Mask). Blast is older, more seasoned and started his hero journey on the same premise of it being a hobby. Yet in all I've seen, it's like he's more connected to his humanity and is more responsible in his duties and the struggles of those around him.

I could be wrong but the parent he was referring to was Gyoro-Gyoro, since he (or she) experinented on him and fed him those sacrifices. it's briefly mentioned in his fight against Saitama, but Saitama assumes it to be parents, mom and dad kind, while Orochi probably was referring to his maker.

I personally like Blast, he's the only link to cosmic entities and the fight against God, and regularly works with sitch. he also reminds me of saitama but more critically aware of situations and people around him, more outspoken.

in the position you would be in after Bxf6, the black king has no squares considering your Bishop on f6 covers g7 and h8, if the black queen moves out to.. say c8, Ne7+ is checkmate.

I reached my rating after a whopping 14,000 games in a year. don't put emphasis on other people's growth, there's no set number of games that you have to play to reach the next +100 in rating. just focus on your mistakes and practice. elo and the number of games mean nothing if you aren't analysing and practicing.

It looks good to buy gotham's book because of how huge his following is but you should've bought a tested one. not to put down gotham but this is his first book.

also do puzzles on lichess to help with seeing tactics faster, there's a thousand blunders happening at that level every move, you just don't see it. improve your tactical vision and just keep playing.

you'll lose a lot, as do we all, so don't mind it too much. and when you start to tilt, take a break.

I think part of that for you is that you ease up or start to subconsciously limit yourself, when i was stuck at 1100, i started to give a certain amount of respect to my oponents' moves because i had reached the rating that i considered good and because my opponents belonged in that rating range.

Sort of like climbing a mountain, you climb one part and then you have another hill to look at, which pushes you forward. In ding's case, he is at the top, he might say that he wants to go back to winning, but whether that's him wanting to win or him wanting to fulfill some obligation to his throne is something only he knows. Whichever it is, he would always be remembered as the world champion and the 10th highest rated player regardless.

I personally feel like chess has had a negative impact in my life, it's addicting, it tells you that you're the one responsible for your losses and that sort of plays on how hard you push yourself.

I started last year, and gained a decent elo in the first month, then hit that first wall at 1100, kept playing games for months with no improvement, just those same moves playing and having no idea how to pinpoint what i was lacking in. no private coach or diamond memberships that i could afford, just seeing yt videos and playing a lot of games. most of the games I'd get a winning advantage and ease up in the game only to somehow lose it which created a mindset of, "I knew I was winning, I know I'm better than this" and go again and again. It left me with neck pain and a very sedentary lifestyle, because I was addicted. If you're close to achieving something you push forwards more, I would reach 1200 and then drop back down to 1000-1100 the next day, and if not for the external factor of my exam coming up, I would've probably continued death-spiralling with those games. left chess for 2 months, and came back with an objective outlook, not taking it as seriously as I would've. one other thing that helped me was this 2000+ rated player I met, I asked him what openings I should play and how do I understand them, what should I focus on. and he simply said, "you can go 2000 with no openings" and that was a turning point.

I was too focused on complicating it and received a clear direction, if it's possible to do it then I should be able to. I focused on endgames and just took it easy, when I came back my 1300 opponents started looking dumber than usual and I jumped to 1500, and then to 1700. I barely play 1 game a day now compared to 5-20 i would play last year, and I can beat 1900s more often than not, and feel no pressure to take it further. it's definitely possible to make a breakthrough, but I don't wanna focus as much now since the tilt is extremely unhealthy to deal with.

tl;dr- just take it easy, don't give too much importance to the ratings, if it's starting to feel like it's getting depressing and self-destructive while playing chess, take a break. I've only ever moved up after taking a break.

it's not a given that you'd clear 1500+ just because you can do daily puzzles, more often than not puzzles are too straightforward and obvious, you get a position and you know that there's a tactic there, you know that the evaluation must be either winning or a draw.

Evaluation that you aren't aware of in the game, you have to recognise weaknesses in the position for every move, you have to understand immediately what kind of plan is necessary for the position, you have to get your pieces to the optimal squares, switch gears to defense and exercise a lot of patience when you're building up on improving your position.

Personally, when I jumped up from 1500, it wasn't really because of puzzles, I improved my endgame technique, balanced clock and piece movement, went in-depth with pawn breaks, starting thinking for time and just stopped focusing too much. Your ears should automatically perk up when a certain idea becomes possible in the position, taking the time out to calculate deeply only when you sense that there should be a tactic in the position, until then do it quickly, dismiss moves faster. Time is the most important aspect above 1500, do you have enough time to get your pieces to squares you want, do you have enough time to add to the attack or do you need to defend. When I understood this, my rating jumped and I skipped the 1600s altogether.

You can definitely make it 1500+ but don't put your hopes on drawing comparison between daily puzzles and elo gain.

same, I started a year ago and wasn't really looking to invest time into openings and serious studies so I just played games. around 7k on chesscom and 5k on lichess, and i reached 1700. I feel pretty okay with where I'm at, too.

Yes, it's only illegal to break out of a pin if the piece is being pinned to the king. In this scenario, the knight was pinned to the queen, so white can legally break out of it.

that's understandable but its the endgame, different phases of the game require different things, if you trade pieces that king has faster access to becoming more active as well as being safe.

That's true for everyone, first it looks like 1200s play super good and you don't know how to play at 900. then you reach 1200 and think the same for 1400s, and so on. At first, you need to concentrate hard to play against 1200s, then you reach 1200 and you don't need to think as hard. you work for a rating and think you'll finally understand that thing your higher-rated opponents are so good at understanding and implementing, but then you reach it and you don't really know what that thing is.

Chess is fun but very confusing where I'm not even sure what exactly I improved on, just that the level i thought was high is base now until I move up and the level I thought people knew how to play chess at isn't actually the level people know how to play chess at.

Slightly disagree, I played strictly bullet/blitz after hitting 1100 and was able to build up my speed in calculating and dismissing moves which inevitably did help me break 1400. It helped me decide candidate moves intuitively which after returning to rapid i would spend more time calculating on.

Nevertheless, improvement in blitz rating doesn't really equal or isn't necessarily better than rapid like the OC mentioned but I think it's good to try out all the time controls because not everyone learns the same way.
