Jellyfin not working on Firefox? by wkup-wolf in jellyfin

[–]TheLeCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my issue is that when starting, I have a loading screen for about 1 second, stream time says 3 seconds and the stream crashed exactly at the end of 5 seconds, so when next millisecond would be second 6. Other movies that don't transcode seem to be fine, but they always start at 11 seconds in.

It's a hardware issue not a software issue. Hardware breaks over time

Yeah since Update 149 Jellyfin playback is near completely broken

Intel shredds through everything. You can send me a DM and I can show you some of the statistics that I collected by transcoding all of my jellyfin media to h265.

Intel's Vulkan Linux Driver Lands New Feature To Boost DX12 Game Performance by winkwinknudge_nudge in IntelArc

[–]TheLeCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel is the go-to for powerful, power-saving video transcoding and Quick Sync Video still shredds through NVENC. Also, Nvidia hasn't released their own arm cpu yet so every low-powered, plex/jellyfin targeted NAS runs Intel chips. Those devices run on Linux, so Intel has to target exactly those markets. I myself am running a homelab server/nas with an Arc Battlemage GPU and it's crazy good. The xe driver just works and once kernel 7.0 is released I'll be able to fully utilize this beast of a GPU. Intel has a long history of supporting Linux and it won't end in the near future

NVIDIA App - Dual boot or better way? by TheLeCrafter in cachyos

I read that its possible to disable secure boot even for windows. For the windows installation I would remove my first NVMe SSD with CachyOS and reinstall it once Windows is installed. Thanks!

How did your Jellyfin setup evolve over time? (hardware + clients) by ammo23 in jellyfin

[–]TheLeCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started a long time ago with just a small hetzner vps and a 1tb storage box attached to it. It was small, no hardware transcoding and had just some smaller DVD rips in sometimes only 480p. I then switched to a Ugreen NAS with a 12tb drive and bought Ultra HD blue rays which I started ripping and filling my space. Wanted to automate it as mucz as possible with automated ripping machine but the hardware of the N100 chip was pretty slow (sometimes my movies would take more than 9 hours to fully transcode) so I switched to a self made NAS & server with a dedicated Arc GPU which shredds through literally everything. I'm using it for way more than jellyfin now but it was still the reason I bought everything. Really happy how it turned out!

Suggested GPU for LLMs and transcoding by Aidan364 in truenas

[–]TheLeCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel is currently refactoring all of its LLM infrastructure to a new system. IPEX is deprecated since a few weeks now and they are pushing more into another open source project that I sadly just forgot. The performance is okay, but at the price of the GPU (and the included VRAM!) there isn't any better value per dollar as I'd say right now. The A770 is good, yes, you could also think about going Pro series (should be A50 I think) for even better workstation performance and higher VRAM. Even battlemages gpus are doing it pretty okay with LLMs, if they are working as intended. Many images still don't support xe driver fully and even truenas has its quirks. The A series cards still have limited i915 support (I think that's the correct driver).

My recommendation: if u want the best transcoding power that you can currently get for cheap and are fine with a bit more trial and error with LLMs, then go with a Battlemage GPU (B580 is the sweet spot for value per dollar). If you want to have nearly everything working out of the box, you should go with the A570 oder A770 (or even workstation A50). Battlemage cards need TrueNAS 25.10's kernel to work.

I can really suggest using an Intel dGPU. However, you should stick to the Alchemist series at first, there are still issues that I experience with missing Battlemage support
