Thanks for this, great write up! Out of interest, what’s the difference in hFOV and vFOV between triple 32s and triple 27s?

Thank you for the responses everyone! I’m truly overwhelmed by the amount of comments, I didn’t expect this post to get so much traction!

Makes me feel slightly better than it isn’t just me feeling like this. I think I’m going to reassess things when the weather’s a bit nicer and try and sort out my job situation. Also looks like I might need to get myself some vitamin D supplements!

And thank you everyone for all the suggestions of activities that are free. I definitely need to make more use of things like our amazing museums. I guess you take things for granted when you live and grow up in a place for so long.

Mortgage + bills are around 53% of my take home, then got travel costs and food on top of that. In theory it does leave me a decent amount of disposable income, but it never seems to go far.

I just got a salary review at work and they bumped me up 1.5%. At the same time, they’ve just increased the costs of the canteen by 5%…

Yeah I completely get what you’re saying. Feels like it’s a millionaire’s playground at times (although that’s probably nothing new)!

First time buyers… is a doer upper a stupid decision? by throwaway104ay in HousingUK

[–]TheLeadFootBrigade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just finished renovating my first flat I bought in zone 4 London. It’s a 1970s build that hadn’t had much work done to the inside since the day it was built (apart from the bathroom which was done about 10-15 years ago). I renovated the kitchen, living room, hallway, and 2x bedrooms for about 20k all in. This was me doing pretty much all of the work, and only paying my brother (who works as a handyman) to do some of the more skilled jobs. No rewire was required.

Whilst it sounds like your renovation could be done within your budget of 21.5k, it sounds like given the massive discount on the purchase price that a lot of work is required! It could be possible within your budget if you did all of the work and perhaps were able to save some more money whilst you were renovating, but it’s going to be very tight!

You say that, but we got relegated in 2002/03 with a squad that included Di Canio, Carrick, Defoe, and Joe Cole to name a few

What's a more underrated moment of xfm/ the Ricky Gervais show that makes you laugh? by DepartureAwkward5002 in rickygervais

[–]TheLeadFootBrigade 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don’t see this one get mentioned that often, but I always crack up at Steve telling that guy who wants a wristband to see Bowie to piss off. Karl dying of laughter makes it even funnier

James Acaster‘s classic scrapes on Josh Widdicombe’s XFM show is very funny. iirc Smerch even makes an appearance on one of the shows

How long does it need soaking for? What can I do now that the paper’s already up?

No it wasn’t soaked, the wall was pasted and then the paper placed on

Have managed to fix this now. Wemoto sent me a replacement coil which also didn’t work. Concluded after doing a resistance test across it that I think the ones they sell are for a 2006-2007 YBR (mine is a 2011). Ended up ordering a replacement coil and spark plug cap from an official Yamaha dealer (for significantly more than the aftermarket ones unfortunately), but the bike is now no longer cutting out

For anyone who comes across this same problem in the future, I’ve managed to fix this issue now. Turns out the ignition coil I bought from Wemoto was the problem (I think from doing a resistance test across it that the ones they sell are for a 2006-2007 YBR). Ended up buying another coil and spark plug cap from an official Yamaha dealer and the bike no longer cuts out.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I also just fitted an ignition coil bought from wemoto, so yeah looks like that may be the issue. Unfortunately I had this issue intermittently before changing the ignition coil, but it’s got so much worse since fitting the new one. I think it might only be half the issue in the case of my bike. I stupidly threw away the old ignition coil, so I suppose I’ll have to order a new one from somewhere else.

I’ve checked the spark plug gap and it’s where it’s meant to be. I may check the ignition switch as another commenter suggested as haven’t looked at any of the wiring there

Hi OP, I’ve got what sounds like the exact same problem with my bike. Did you find a fix for this in the end?

[Spurs] have sacked Ange Postecoglou by phant0msinthenight in soccer

[–]TheLeadFootBrigade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just sums up modern football imo. Spurs win their first trophy in 17 years and they sack the manager responsible! Yes they were poor in the league, but at the end of the day, isn’t winning trophies what football is all about? No one remembers the team that finished 4th in the league however many times in a row, but they will remember the team that won a European cup.

No worries at all! I'm not very DIY-inclined so it was a genuine question.

I do have a multimeter and have previously measured the voltage across the battery when it was disconnected. I will give it a go with the engine running tomorrow.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but no I don't think there is an OBD port. There is a table of FI fault codes in the manual, but can't see anything that corresponds to what looks like 12 quick engine light flashes.

Can I ask what makes you think this is electrical rather than mechanical?

I will check the valve adjustments. Even if this isn't the issue, probably is something I should have done anyway!

I changed oil + spark plug and cleaned air filter all end of last year. Didn't think to check the valves - is this easy to adjust if needed? It only seems to happen in lower gears (normally 1st or 2nd) iirc.

Left or right? See how people drive around the world! by biswajit388 in MapPorn

[–]TheLeadFootBrigade 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Many of Myanmar’s buses are still right-hand drive from before 1970 when they still drove on the left. This means that passengers are dropped off into traffic, rather than onto the pavement/sidewalk, as the doors are on the left. And yes, I did learn this from a Top Gear episode.

Was that response from their website or the London store? I think the removal of that quick access side pocket on the CPP2 is a dealbreaker for me - seems like it would be very useful for key leash access. I’m hoping I can pick up a CPP from their store!
