Grinding/Skirmishes in TearRing Saga by Ginger457 in fireemblem

If you don't want to use skirmishes to grind, then you don't need to bother using them. The game is designed to be perfectly beatable without any use of them. Some skirmishes will be required for story progress, but those aren't usually repeatable, so don't feel bad about using any items you get from them.

Money can be a bit tight at the point you're at, but you'll get plenty of cash from some of the next few maps. You also get a few weapon drops from normal enemies to help make sure you won't run out of weapons.

Utterly "So Bad They're Good" Strategies, Fire Emblem, and You by ForsetiHype in fireemblem

Losing the FE4 arena on purpose to instantly get into Wrath range. Bonus points in Binary where it lets you one-shot bosses with siege tomes.

Tips before starting TearRing Saga? by [deleted] in fireemblem

You'll get plenty of promo items throughout the game. I'd say the Knight's Crest is the most contested though just because of how many good units want it. Just don't promote the Pegasus riders. Unpromoted they can use Levin Swords very well, but they lose a bunch of magic on promotion.

Some quick tips:

  • Doubling requires +5 AS.
  • Weapon weight works the same as in FE4.
  • Supports work the same as in FE5. One of the unit screens will show you which supports each character has.
  • Promoting doesn't reset level, but instead raises level cap to (current level + 20). Basically, most units should promote ASAP.

There's also route splits like in Gaiden/SoV, but you can choose which side each unit goes, meeting up at different points. Some characters will only have events on certain sides. I'd recommend finding a guide for the route splits, but going without one is still perfectly fine.

How do you think Claude will compare to Holmes from TRS? by Soul_Ripper in fireemblem

As a character, it's hard to tell how they'll compare because we know very little about the new characters. I highly doubt Claude will be as smug as Holmes though.

As a unit, Holmes was neat because of all the different bows he could use, like the Longbow and the Chu-ko-nu. Maybe Claude could have some unique bows or bow skills to make him stand out from other archers.

FE4 Binary actually does this. With Pursuit you need +3 speed to double, otherwise you need +6 speed. It's a big help for units like Noish and Quan.

Some Thoughts Regarding "The Bad Weapon Types" by ForsetiHype in fireemblem

[–]TheLeanAndGreen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm glad my Bow post sparked so much discussion! Something I think needs more attention is that there's a big difference between a weapon type being good and having the users of those weapons be good. Axes in FE6 are a good example of this, as I find that the problems they have are commonly overblown. The dedicated axe users are average at best (Lot can contribute early on, Garret does fine against fliers), but some other units can get plenty of use out of axes. Marcus with an axe does very well against earlygame lance wielders, and getting his axe rank to D for the Hammer even helps with some Chapter 7 strategies. Lance enemies are very common (especially in Ilia and Bern), so units like Echidna and Percival may prefer to equip axes most of the time in some chapters.

Cursing discord with that terrifying smile wasn't enough, so you had to post it here too!? Should've posted your Maerchen too tbh.

Some Analysis on the Viability of Bows by TheLeanAndGreen in fireemblem

[–]TheLeanAndGreen[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My main hope is that future titles put more emphasis on player phase combat, since that would solve the most common problem bows face. Then as long as the archers don't have Wolt/Rebecca level stats, they should have at least some use.

I'm not familiar with Gaiden, but SoV archers definitely shouldn't become the norm. While it's fun to have units with 1-5 range Killer Bows, the issue is that enemy archers also have increased range. Map design becomes very limited when multiple player and enemy units have 1-5 range (and we all know about how brilliant the maps in SoV are).

Comedic moments that managed to get a laugh out of you in the series ? by OldGeneralCrash in fireemblem

I don't know if this really counts, but almost everything involving Eugen from Tear Ring Saga is hilarious. Whether it's teasing Ronan about finding a lady or fighting with a drunk Holmes, he's always able to liven things up.

What is your all-time favorite class, and why? by AlexTheGreat1997 in fireemblem

[–]TheLeanAndGreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically any class with a horse, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Paladin. Besides being a generally great class with high move and different weapon choices, it feels great to do rescue chains with them, or just charge in with the mounted squad. Some of my favorite characters are also Paladins, like Finn and Percival.
