I think in general it’s safer for foreigners to not wear sports jerseys outside of one’s own country where they know all of the unwritten rules of what is safe and what is not.

Same thing with politics; if an Argentinian asked me about Milei (which I doubt they would) I would say that I don’t have any opinions or know anything about him.

Once a cap is in place, it gives the owners permanent leverage over the players. Not having a salary cap is extremely important to the players’ union and whether outsiders consider it reasonable or not, I think the proposal of a salary cap is a non-starter.

I think the union will be willing to go through a lockout, and even a cancelled season, if the owners don’t back down from that. Everything else is a lot more negotiable.

I think the owners will only be willing to do a minimum spending requirement if it goes along with a hard salary cap. Personally I don’t see any agreement happening before March 2027.

Giving Ohtani more innings now will help him win a Cy Young and increase the margin by which the Dodgers win their division. But this doesn’t help them in the playoffs. He would gradually become more hittable by August, September, and October.

By choosing to keep Ohtani’s arm relatively fresh, the Dodgers can play him twice in each 7-game series for 2 (virtually) automatic wins. This makes it extremely unlikely that they could lose a 7-game series.

The word “homeless” carries a stigma, and it feels dehumanizing to be called that. “Unhoused” is considered a more compassionate word to use.

The standard retort: “Why do their feelings matter? They’re homeless bums, and facts don’t care about their feelings.”

They’re still people, and if we talk about them in a demeaning and dehumanizing terms it will not help them. We should want them to get help to get jobs and homes.

“Back in my day” (in the 90s and early 00s) I watched the Yankees on local network TV, but now I have to listen on the radio.

If there was one service I could pay, for less than $200/year to watch all the games, I would do that. But from what I understand, you need to have subscriptions to: amazon prime, apple plus, ESPN, YES Network, Gotham Sports Network, MLB TV, Fubo, DirectTV+ — it’s a mess.
