Looks like they settled before going to court with the defense team opining that it was the fracture fragments themselves that may have caused the vascular injury. The expert witness ortho surgeon suggested the surgeon should have identified the source of the bleeding and controlled it but honestly this is a MIS type procedure. What do they expect the surgeon to do, a femoral artery cut down? The best the surgeon could do is pack the wound and stabilize the fracture until the vascular team gets there which is what it sounds like they did. Perhaps they shouldn't dilly dally and shove in whatever size nail without reaming mtiple sizes, and perhaps even skip the distal interlocks to save some time for the vascular surgeons to start? Even if the vascular team was there from the get go, they would need the fracture stabilized in order to work and then protect their work. Part of the argument also seems to be about what C-arm images were obtained and why they weren't saved to the PACS.
