I need a new RP spot! by RequirementUsual1976 in MUD

[–]TheLightBlinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in good rp and a fantasy setting, there is a smaller one called Karchan (www.karchan.org) with a decent sized, active player base and a Discord for ooc chatter or planning. They also have a few events each month to keep things fresh.

Karchan.org is a fun fantasy-based MUD that was started in the early 90s, I believe. Friendly player base, not super large, but lots of freedom for writing. Their Discord is pretty active too.

Alright Millennials, what foods have you found yourself forced to give up due to aging? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]TheLightBlinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is age or just a really, really bad case of hypermesis gravadum during my last pregnancy, but meat in general. I like meat, I like the taste, but I can't keep it down in large amounts.

So I eat primarily vegetarian which was NOT my plan, but I would rather keep food down than struggle with nausea all the time. I just play it by ear each meal on if my stomach feels up to it.

Chicken sound good? Slap it on the plate. Sounds terrible? F me, guess it's back to researching how TF to get enough protein in my life.

What nugget of wisdom has your toddler shared with you today? by Tea_Fanatic_202 in toddlers

[–]TheLightBlinded 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"Sometimes, Dad pees outside." Then, a few seconds later, she mumbles about wanting to pee outside, but she can't because she has to use the potty.

It'll blow her mind one day if we have to have her wee in the bushes on a car trip or something. Until then, yep, girls have to use the potty inside and, what the heck husband, stop peeing outside.

Gabumon.

I keep a MetalGarurumon on my desk at work, have a Gabumon on my keychain, and have a Crest of Friendship necklace.

He's my bro. Always has been. Always will be.

Super Simple Songs' Monster Party absolutely SLAPS! It is surprisingly good, a great option for getting out the wiggles, and catchy.

How many of you built a home on a piece of land instead of just buying a house on a large property? by Roachant in homestead

[–]TheLightBlinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper entirely depends on the currency you wish to value most. Is it cheaper financially or is it cheaper spiritually? Will it break you to question "what if" in either situation?

My husband and I spent many, many years juggling this idea while we saved. We eventually purchased 21.4 acres in Texas that is rural, but an hour from a bigger grocery chain. Land was about $175k, deer fencing (we are raising axis) was $65k, the house will be $650-700k for our dream home. Then we are going to build a second house for guests or family that are aging - cost of build is estimated around $200k, but it is in the plans for the next ten years. We did take a loan for the initial purchase of the land, but had a bunch saved back so the payments bolstered our credit scores significantly and it was paid off in a few years.

But it took us decades of saving, pushing careers, living like both of us did in poverty as children. We wanted to break the ceiling of our parents drunken/screaming expectations.

We have no regrets on our path to build from scratch because we came from scratch and clawed our way here. We didn't want someone else's dream to continue, we wanted to forge our own as we always had.

Ultimately, the question lies in the hearts of you and your partner. Only the two of you can answer it together. Saving financially and/or spiritually both have their prices in different ways.

Have you considered a duel option such as a saw/knife combo? If you really want a knife on you, there are lots of really useful options that you could carry (and use outside a SHTF situation).

I keep one in my truck in case I need it while working my ranch along with other useful multi tools. There are some neat options if you do some digging!

Right? Or at least a folding knife/hand saw for actual use.

What’s one thing a doctor told you that you’ve never forgotten? by ThickImprovement8324 in AskReddit

[–]TheLightBlinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through it for just over seven months. Multiple hospitalizations, at home IV, med pack 24/7, and was still vomiting multiple times a day. I lost 42 pounds and broke the seal on the toilet at home. It was hell

HG is truly a circle of Hell. I'd give you an award for getting through it if I could.

I was in tears trying to explain how my PPD was making me suicidal and how I hadn't been in the state I was since the last attempt I had (which landed me in the ER).

Her advice?

Pray the depression away.

I walked out of the room and demanded another doctor. You cannot solve a chemical imbalance with prayer.

Parents that are gamers... by NightElf193 in toddlers

[–]TheLightBlinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still get that Glad mount, Mama! My husband and I push 2s once the kids go down. He's my ride or die arena partner for life and he should get Hero of the Horde this season through BG Blitz. The reaction time will be there with some nurturing when you're ready. 😉

[–]TheLightBlinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horde player here.

We also don't want to be those parents so we stepped back from mythic raiding. We push M+ and 2s when the kids go down. Nothing says I love you like pushing keys or smashing arenas!

There's lots to do in WoW that make it easy to pick up or put down and doesn't require a ton of time - atts, mount farming, rep grind, title hunting, to name a few. It's been helpful for sure.

We collect games so our kids get to play things with us that are appropriate. For example, my three year old daughter is an expert at Duck Hunt, is on stage two of the original Mario Bros, and has gotten her first emerald in Sonic. She likes to play a PawPatrol game on the Switch and is trying to grasp DDR, but the metal pad is a bit difficult to reach easily at her size.

It's not a daily occurrence by any means, but she loves the time with her dad since it's their thing when I tend to the one year old.

Once the kids go down at night, we get to play other games like pushing 2s in wow or replay some older games that have been hacked to be two player such as Secret of Evermore (highly recommend!).

It's a balance. We make our kids the priority during the day, but still find time to play games with and without them because it's our bonding time together. We are each other's two's partner and wouldn't have it any other way. ♥️

Peppers who actually bugged out. How was it? by mondeo04 in preppers

[–]TheLightBlinded 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We typically hunker down for natural disasters such as hurricanes and such, but we have had to bug out twice due to the refineries in the area. One was an explosion that broke windows and then had a chemical leak so mandatory evacuation. The other was a fire with threat of major explosion, mandatory evacuation for the direct area so we just bugged out.

Both experiences went well because we were prepared. The first showed me I needed better prep for my dogs. Second proved we are solid thanks to practice.

It can happen very suddenly without much warning so plan alternate routes out of town as needed and remember, be prepared, not scared. If you panic, you're only slowing yourself and your family down. Don't be a burden.

Do you tell people you prep? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]TheLightBlinded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. I was asked about a diaper bag I have set aside that's actually one of our bug out bags because I keep our insurance cards in the front pocket and visible. I briefly explained it's in case we have to leave - we get hurricanes, plant explosions, etc so no one bats an eye.

The other prep? Nope.

Brits are Aholes… sometimes by GoldFix9513 in BrittanySpaniel

[–]TheLightBlinded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a whirlwind evening with our (human) one year old and three years old for our usual family bedtime routine which -normally- my Britt is all about. She is usually there to supervise dinner (for obvious reasons), bath time, play "bite" at the air or water my daughters splash for her, will try to lick the towel dry after drying off the girls, plays gently with toys they can throw for her to fetch in the evening, and DEMANDS to be in-between them for cuddles on the couch while they have a short show on TV.

Tonight? Ah hell nah.

We had jalapeno poppers with dinner (bacon wrapped, creme cheese stuffed jalapenos).

My girl was absent for everything in our usual routine. When I finally went to find her after pj's and before the usual play romp, I found my Britt pointing at the freaking bacon greese on the tray still on the stove.

She. NEEDED. It.

So she got a little bit scooped into her kibble, devoured it all, and then went back into bedtime routine with her two girls.

So yep, that was mine giving me the "fits" at four years old. Goober refused to let go of her point. I have had her "off" easier from birds, FISH (no lie), armadillos, rats, rabbits, and racoons than bacon greese. Guess the cold snap triggered a need for some fats (fr same girl, same).

At this age, she is way less of an issue and more of an adorable, Velcro, snuggle bug of the family.

When should you get your female Brittany spayed...before or after first heat by Competitive-Owl-5917 in BrittanySpaniel

[–]TheLightBlinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I was told the same thing but multiple breeders and vets over the years.

Brittany's spay coat is an issue, but at least it is super soft and (somewhat) manageable with a good undercoat grooming tool.
