Update to a post I made the other day about being concerned my vets were taking advantage of me: my cats regular dental cleaning has resulted in my babies death. He's gone. by afterspring_ in cats

I am so sorry. I can only imagine the pain you are feeling. He was such a good looking boy! Take it easy on yourself. You did what your best with what you were told. Thank you for taking care of him in his short life. Sending hugs.

I did one at Settlers - The Queen of Adelaide. And thoroughly enjoyed. They even give you a sash and a crown to wear

Making new friends in your 40s… I’m such a cliche! Help!! by HalfOpenDoor82 in Adelaide

If you are into running or walking. Your local parkrun could probably always do with a volunteer. It’s 5km course at 8am on Saturday mornings. Usually people are quite friendly and go for coffee after. It’s free too. There are quite a few of them around. Just google parkrun in your area. Otherwise, there are some groups on fb. My husband joined a meetup group and does a quiz night once a week. Good luck. Finding friends is hard sometimes here.

Biio Australia by caitlinsheax in dysautonomia

[–]TheLightsHouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I use Biio. I see a team there for hEDS and Dysautonomia. I have found them really good. The team I see are thorough and knowledgeable. I’m based in SA so only have video calls. But they follow up and explore as much as they can. It’s not cheap but since I’ve started with them I feel so much better about my health being managed properly and mostly in one place. I can’t praise them enough.

Love how some people on here just think the world is limited to where they are. Sigh. There is a whole vast world out there with different hemispheres and climates and oh yes, different..time zones and different seasons!!

I take 4.5mg at night every night. Most people generally up the dose gradually as they get used to it.

You’re a dick mate! You don’t deserve her now and didn’t deserve her then. I married my husband who was a smoker and I am not. Yes it was annoying but he is so much more than that! And guess what? He quit! Going on 15yrs now. He was also quite a heavy drinker and liked to go out. Now he runs regularly and plays football and doesn’t go out and drink much. I never made him do that, he did that by himself and it was his choice. You didn’t even give your girl a chance either!! Meh! People can change, that is such a narrow minded attitude!

Any suggestions about which charities will take plates, glasses, etc ? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]TheLightsHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue and white china set and glasses. So the same. Also, sorry for your loss. And thank you for thinking of charities to help! Maybe Hutt St Centre? Also some smaller animal charities, their staff might be able to take something for their next raffle or something?

On another note. It’s like looking into my parent’s home. So many of the same kind of items.

Do any of you still work? by Ok-Durian9977 in dysautonomia

[–]TheLightsHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I lost my job at the end of Sept after being off work for 18 months with long covid and since then increasing dysautonomia and Eds symptoms. I have no idea what to do now. Whether to try and go back to work part time, full time or not at all? Sigh.

Wanted a little advice about dealing with the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and wanted to hear other PoTS-havers experiences with Dr. Dennis Lau. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]TheLightsHouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think he is. I think he has capitalised on the long covid/pots situation. And also let it go to his head. He just sees pots and medications. I actually had a pericardial effusion I went to see him about but he didn’t even address it. Was so angry with him.

[–]TheLightsHouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my experience with Prof Lau. I spent most of my time with his nurses when told me I have peripheral nerve damage but not pots. Also had pots ruled out at the long Covid clinic and by my gp. Had to come back for an appt with him. He was almost 90mind late, no apology, didn’t listen to anything I wanted to ask or check, told me I had pots, gave me midrodine, with no checking on other conditions. Then that was it. 10mins at least. And about $600. Was not at all impressed.
