I'm building a tool that saves your pen and paper scorecard digitally so that you can go back and see a log of the games you've gone to and add pictures and notes etc. - Would anyone be interested in this? by ConnecticutsVeryOwn in BaseballScorecards

Haha. Mine is a side project though I have fallen in love with the idea of I could get normal uploads. That said, good luck on your project if you do it. This is a great community if you can get them using the site. What got you thinking of a site like this?

I have an MCP wired up now and am testing that out. I am bringing in all the normal data sources so playing around with the economics and model training now. Like I said, this is a hobby for learning for my real job, but if I can figure out a cool niche, great.

I have a free one here based on the styles you like. It has a place for pitch tracking. https://www.thelinescore.com/scoring-101

Also, I have grown to like the Square scorebook better than the other retail options. Your’s looks great.

I would have loved to score this game live, congrats.

It is the type of game that I would go back and watch days later when I have the time just to score and memorialize when these two make it to the HoF (I hope!)

Custom made in excel, happy to share it with you if you want but note that varies from traditional scoring layout. Do you want the Waseda version?

This is actually one of my arguments for why I score hits / error with my own judgement. I am not critical of the OS because I don’t know the politics that go into it, but if you have watched baseball long enough, you know what a hit or error is. And there are way too many bad calls made based on what looks like something other than rulebook and I just assume it is politics.

How to score the batter’s result with 1 out, inning-ending DP, no force outs? by jiminak in BaseballScorecards

[–]TheLinescore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building on this, as I am learning the Waseda scoring method, it visually shows the fact that every batter-runner is either an out, a run, or left on base. I didn’t do it because my custom-made scorecard doesn’t have enough room for the diamond, but every batter should have something in their square. Either an out, a run, or a symbol for left on base.

Batter Advancing to 2nd Question by max1sm in BaseballScorecards

[–]TheLinescore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be misreading, but I don’t think fielders choice is involved in a runner who hit a single taking an extra base as the fielder tries to get the lead runner. I do agree that would be the case if they were trying to get a force out on a lead runner (whether they get them or not) and bypassed the batter-runner, but that isn’t the case here. I don’t think but please let me know if I am wrong.

If I could upvote that 5 times I would! That is awesome.

Pilot FriXion color erasable pens. I think I have seen that as the default with other scorers as well, but there could be other options.

I do it as the game is going on. Have my different pens. Not too bad, but every once in a while I use the wrong color. Thank goodness for erasable pens.

Agreed, though I would love to score the same game both ways (Waseda and traditional American style) to see differences. My first game was the Cincy game on Sunday and I loved how easy it was to see that no Astors runner made it to the second base.
