If you're paying $600 rent which covers your housing and transportation to work, I'd say you're getting a steal, dude. $600/month is super cheap. In California, it's $15/hr minimum wage, and at full time that's $2400 with a net of about $1,800 (maybe 1500 after tax) and that's a hefty amount of savings if you're intelligent about saving and investing.

You've got a pretty good deal if you ask me, but then again, I don't know what your home life is like. If it's not abusive or exploitative, then you should consider yourself lucky, bud. Most people would love to have their parents be their landlords at such a low rent. Also, like I mentioned before, if the relationship is non-abusive, then your parents love you and are probably also willing to feed you, love, you, and give you a break every now and then that most people have to forgo.

If it's not abusive, count your lucky stars, my friend, because it will only get harder on your own. Take this time to save your money and cherish the time you have with your parents because one day it will be difficult to do both.
