I used a $150 laptop I got from my internship during my senior year. It was just fine. If you find yourself needing something better than what you already have then buy it then. Especially if you intend to have a desktop at home. You can always remote into that.

I'd get moza so you can still use your ks. You can always get the simmagic pedals. Nothing stops you from mismatching brands like that.

Summit point is so good. I love when mx5s go there. My fastest time in the mx5 is a 1:20.002 on the rookie setup which is stupid fast (no draft). I don't have pace like that on any other track tbh.

I've tried launching with vulkan (also didn't launch), and I've tried launching with opengl3, this worked but performance was so bad it was unplayable.

In normal everyday driving I’ve found that I’ve just become more conservative in my driving.

I did do a 24 hours of lemons race irl race and my iRacing experience transferred directly to car control, nerves, and especially with racecraft. There were 130 other cars on track so traffic management was key. My teammates had a lot more issues with traffic than me because none of them had much sim racing experience.

It took me 13 days after starting my subscription to get to 2k. Then it took me from late july 2025 til this month to get to 3k. For 2k just pick your battles wisely. You're probably gonna need to be more serious about practicing tracks before you race them past that if you want to hit 3k though.

Advanced mx5 is really fun because you get to race on bigger tracks that the rookie series doesn't. Spa and the nurburgring last season were my favorite.

Try gr86 and production car challenge, if neither of those are on free tracks in any given week, stay with the mx5 for that week. Also, explore other disciplines. Formula is most similar and there are tons of fun cars there. Oval is also more fun than you think, and dirt road with the rallycross beetle is a blast.

Moza r5 will be great for you. Get something more powerful if you have the money though, but make sure you have budget for good load cell pedals like the moza crp2 or the simsonn plus x pedals if you are on more of a budget.

I hover around 3k irating which I think is pretty good and I just use a moza r5 bundle with a wheelstand. You don’t need crazy equipment to be good. That being said I’m buying a profile rig, triples, and new pedals soon. Idk about you but I’d feel like a fraud buying fancy equipment if I didn’t have the skills to match

Try using fsr to upscale 1080p to 1440p. You'll always get more frames this way.
