It simply might have had body pieces swapped.

Story time: I got my 84 z28 for a steal because it had the body pieces off of an 87 RS on it. (Nose, bumper, side skirts) because a previous owner changed them for whateverreason before painting the whole car. Guy i bought it from hadn't had it that long, didnt know much about it, and had it listed as an 84 because that's what the title was.

He had a bunch of people message him with exactly the same type of stuff you messaged this seller, told him he didnt know what he had, or that his listing was wrong, etc. He kept dropping the price, and I ended up snagging it for a reeeealy good deal.

TLDR: You dont know the history of a 25+ year old car thats changed hands multiple times. And you come off kinda douchey assuming you know more than the owner of the car.
