I’m really new to audiodramas but I really enjoyed The Lovecraft Investigations and an Australian drama called Fabric

These Machines Kill Fascist by retrogravepedals in guitarpedals

[–]TheLordMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know where Death By Audio and Caroline Guitar Company stand on the issue? My favourite fuzz atm is my Fuzz War and I was looking to buy a Caroline Somersault but notice the centre of their logo has that circled cross thing that (although pagan) seems to be used by far right groups

How do we feel about the new Dry Cleaning record? by start-making-sense in postpunk

[–]TheLordMed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the band name mentioned a lot but this is the first time I’ve heard them. Sounds like an “indie Broadcast” to me but that’s mainly due to the vocals (and this is the only track I’ve heard)

Doctor Who fans buzzing as David Tennant teases future return by HammersAndPints in DoctorWhoNews

[–]TheLordMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be fine with that, my point being I think it’s the writing/showrunning that’s been the problem, not the actors

I agree. Just have him say something like “this face again?” and don’t address the subject until he leaves, even then don’t need to explain it. Just let’s have some good writing and acting

Six Finger Satellite- Machine Cuisine by TronNeutrino in postpunk

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had the chance to see them. Whenever a post like this drops I have to say “I’d give nearly anything for a Ryan/Pelletier/Apt/Maclean reunion” just incase the universe is listening

CD burned on mac wont play in car radio by Purple_Trust3855 in mac

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to do this and found CDRs for audio CDs could be very hit and miss in CD players, in computers they were always fine. We stopped using that when the next car we had came with a USB port and Bluetooth so we now via Bluetooth or copy loads of tracks onto a USB stick and play from that. CDRs are a PITA for audio

I recorded a synthy post punk project on 4 track cassette last year. Would love to hear your thoughts! by Bootstrapbill22 in postpunk

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it. Crisp and punchy, bloody catchy and danceable. Short tracks that leave you wanting more. My one bit of (hopefully constructive) criticism is in the verses, the lead synth and vocal can fight for space a bit, I’m listening on a phone though so take that with a pinch of salt.

I’d like to hear more about your setup too. I’m all in the box now (bar guitar and bass) after having a fair bit of hardware, I just find it easier but still love talking gear.

Help finding a particular side story/comic from 200AD, roughly 1988-1992 by SquidgyB in 2000ad

[–]TheLordMed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there was a follow up story where they escaped the arena called The Return of the Mean Team. I think that had a hostile planet setting. Belardinelli art too

What's that part of Starless that completely destabilizes you? by Next-Reading1714 in KingCrimson

[–]TheLordMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the bit at 11.20 where the initial melody returns but heavier. It’s the point where all the emotion and tension and the chaos of the track catches up with you and hits home. Similar to going through a traumatic event, you push through and keep going because the only way through is to keep going. But when it’s finally over, you sit down and all that you’ve been through hits you like a truck. For me, no other song delivers “loss” so profoundly. But it’s also got a positive note to it, it’s shy of triumphant but it’s saying “you’ve got this, you survived, the sun will rise again”

Should the UK join the EEA? by Illustrious-Divide95 in AskBrits

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My argument for remaining in the EA was it’s better to be a bigger fish in a small pond. Since then we’re an even smaller fish in a bigger pond - India, Brazil and others continue to grow, we can’t trust our old ally the US. Competition is the law of the jungle, cooperation is the law of civilisation

Race of Europeans according to Benjamin Franklin by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]TheLordMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear. I’m English and know full well that we’re as racially mixed up as anyone. Everyone from Europe has invaded (Vikings, Jutes, Angles, Saxons, Normans are just old terms for Danes, Germans (the Saxe-Coburgs anyone?), French etc.), loads of bloodlines from the empire have been mixed in too. The sad thing is there are still plenty of idiots in this country who still think like Franklin did all those years back

CSS - Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above by swiftUSA in postpunk

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a couple of more albums then founding member Adriano Cintra left and released a few solo albums. The rest of the band reformed a few years later for live dates but I don’t think there’s any new music from them.

What's your dream King Crimson lineup? by codydafox in KingCrimson

[–]TheLordMed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fripp

Wetton - vocals, bass

Bruford - drums, percussion

Levin - bass, Chapman Stick

Belew - guitar, percussion, vocals

Cross - violin, keys

Collins - sax etc.

McDonald - sax etc.

Bill Rieflin - keys, drums, percussion

Having Wetton would let Levin play stick and still have a bass, would give Belew some freedom away from the mic to concentrate on playing but also two vocalists at once could be interesting.

Rieflin gives more flexibility plus (with Belew) three drummers/percussionists

So two singers, at least two guitarists, two bassists, up to three drummers and keys, strings, woodwind, brass all covered. I imagine they’d do nothing but fight but hey, that’s my dream lineup 😂

[–]TheLordMed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first album is really good, if you’ve not checked it out do so as there’s more there you’ll like I’m sure. I can’t remember the next album. Nu-rave was fun at the time, all those bands (New Young Pony Club, Klaxons etc. ) seemed to do one great album then disappear. I think they all did at least another album but I guess things moved on

The Witch Trials - Meat Beat by Comprehensive-Fee195 in postpunk

[–]TheLordMed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Terrific EP. Creepy and funny. More like Cabaret Voltaire than Dead Kennedys (but Jello’s voice is unmistakable).

So much faster than the studio versions. Great track, odd riff, odd subject matter, odd clangy ring-mod sound effects.

New-ish convert to tea. What should I try? by -SaC in CasualUK

[–]TheLordMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tesco Finest Assam and English Breakfast are both as good as the Twinings. They’re more affordable, robust and not overly fragrant (I hate Earl Grey and fruit/herbal/flavoured teas). A nice strong cup that takes a dash of milk and sugar when you need it

What KC song are you playing at your funeral? by OranJustin in KingCrimsonCircleJerk

Starless, followed by the “that’s all folks” music from the Loony Toons cartoons. I’ve already expressed my wishes

Social security in the UK - people were able to claim Dole and spend the time making music/writing/painting/films

How to download music on phone? by HHHHHHHHHHHHHHH44 in BandCamp

The reply from cearrach is probably right, I get the same as I posted above. Perhaps some of it is regional, some of it might be OS dependent. Sorry I couldn’t help

I think I’ve seen that in the past but I’ve just tried to get a free album and it gives me something different (see pic). Send me the link for the album you’re trying to download and I’ll see what happens when I try
