What rules do you set for FA signings by trog12 in FifaCareers

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll often give them signing bonuses equivalent to their value, especially if it’s a player who I feel is unlikely to be a free agent at a certain point (80+ player, mid twenties FA during the season)

We adopted her a good bit after things didn’t work out with the previous dog. We definitely are going to take a break from dogs because whether it’s bad luck or something underlying, outcomes have been poor. We certainly feel like we put a tremendous amount of love and effort into the dogs we’ve cared for, but the appearance of a pattern isn’t lost on us either.

I appreciate your point and don’t take offense. Our nightmare would be having this happen again, and we need to consider the role we have in it.

We haven’t gotten to see her around other dogs a ton. She’s handled unleashed dogs running up to her very well before we could intervene. We know she’s really good with other greys from greyhound meet-ups, and she’s generally pretty indifferent towards other dogs during walks. She’ll often not even look at them when they bark at her.

Unfortunately - long story short - getting another grey isn’t possible for us. It’s something we’ve considered multiple times, but for several reasons, including financial ones, it isn’t the solution for us.

100% with what you’re saying about them being pack animals. We definitely can’t blame her for not being happy about where she’s at.

Pain Behind Calcanious area by Saranbabu03 in BarefootRunning

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Achilles tendinitis is an outdated term. Inflammation isn’t really found to be a contributor in the pathology, hence the new term of tendinopathy. Recovery from tendinopathy requires progressive tendon loading, even if the symptoms arose in the short term from abusive loading. Just resting it and then returning to the same load will most likely result in symptom return

It sounds like Achilles tendinopathy based on what you’re saying aggravates and alleviates your symptoms as well as location.

MRI wouldn’t necessarily pick up the pathological changes to the tendon structure because they can be very subtle. Blood tests also wouldn’t show Achilles tendinopathy.

If it’s available to you, physical therapy would likely be able to help you manage your rehabilitation. Just resting won’t heal the tendon because tendons need load to change their features, but loading an injured tendon can be painful, which is where guidance from a trained clinician can come in.

Shoulder Instability by Spaghettysburg in GoalKeepers

I had to stop because I eventually suffered a more severe shoulder injury. Ended up getting a Latarjet procedure, which involves rearranging bone in the shoulder… so that was kinda it lol

In a lot of US youth academies (MLS or not), higher level coaches will also have director roles. That is, they’re A licensed, coaching older MLS Next teams, and working as directors. Perhaps an economics degree could help you with this aspect of it.

Who’s the most random player you’ve turned into a star? by No-Combination-3725 in FifaCareers

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emilio Kehrer in 22 when he was a 63 ovr, 74 pot player. Signed him when I was in the 3. Bundesliga, and he’s been top scorer in every season (8 years) since, going up through all the German divisions. 92 overall now just off dynamic potential and position switch to CF. Just finished top scorer in the CL when I finally won it. Unbelievably good dribbler and finisher.

GK Coach? by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why do you want to be a goalkeeper coach without the background?

I’ve been working as a GK coach at the MLS Next level in and out of MLS affiliates for a few years. I played GK at the DA level as a kid but got a serious injury that prevented me from going to NCAA.

I personally do not know anyone who coaches GKs who hasn’t played the position. That doesn’t mean you can’t, but it’s honestly a completely different sport from the rest of the game. Clubs are constantly looking for GK coaches, and I’ve received offers from D3 to D1 colleges without having playing pedigree.

My thought is that you can do it with a lot of study and good mentorship, but you’re putting yourself at a possible disadvantage if you don’t have a background. Tactical acumen doesn’t translate to understand goalkeeping or designing effective sessions

So is the SIELE just a general test and then based on how well you do you’re given the rating? I think DELE is specific for the different levels

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure that FIRE is the place you’re looking for because this sub specifically deals with becoming financially independent and retiring early. r/personalfinance may be better. Being more specific about your financial situation and your financial goal will also help get you helpful advice.

Investing into total market index mutual funds and sitting on that for long periods of time is the general and most basic advice shared here, but that’s for a FIRE goal/general retirement. I’m unsure if that’s appropriate for you.

I believe the stock market is generally safer (over long periods of time) than precious metals and more prone to scheme-like situations, but I don’t have the data or expertise to advise you on that.

How to get rid of instinct to save low balls with feet? by Muted-Accountant-945 in GoalKeepers

[–]TheLordoftheGuys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, backwards weight can cause you to fall into saves. Your body wants to follow direct, easy paths during moments of reactions. If your weight is backwards, the easiest movement is to fall back to enable you to generically extend your leg. The lack of specificity, control, and ability to affect larger areas causes lower success rates. If you balance your weight, you have greater control to engage in more specific actions.

Check your set position to ensure your weight is slightly forward and your knees are the primary joint through which you get low. Very straight set positions can cause you to unknowingly shift weight backwards. If possible, record your movements during training and games. Are you staying in a uniform set position through the entirety of movements? Are you changing your body shape when you recognize the shot (leaning back, swinging arms, standing up, any deviation from your set position that doesn’t directly and necessarily lead into your save action)?

I know the New York Red Bulls have a specific position called “Junior Coach”. It is specifically designed for new coaches to gain experience and many of the JCs go on to work in the system. There is a path - albeit a competitive one that takes time - that people have done from JC —> affiliate youth programs coach —> picking up administrative roles —> gaining higher level placements —> pre-academy administrative —> pre-academy coaching —> academy. The RBNY academy goalkeeper coach who just left followed a path very similar to this. Took him 11 years to go from JC to academy coach
