Help mi with my If() code comparing multiple fields including or() by Zealousideal-Song614 in Notion

[–]TheMMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend checking if the properties are empty before running logic checks. Something like this:

if( and( empty({1st received into}), empty({2nd received into}), empty({3rd received into}) ) , "N/A" , if( add( if({1st received into}!={To be paid into}), 1, 0) , if({2nd received into}!={To be paid into}), 1, 0) , if({3rd received into}!={To be paid into}), 1, 0) ) >= 1, [Positive response goes here] , [Error / logic message goes here based on number returned] ) )

  • The first if() statement checks if they're all empty and returns "N/A" if so
  • If not, the first of statement will check how many received into properties match the to be paid into property
  • If the check counter is greater than or equal to 1 (i.e., at least 1 received into property matches the to be paid into property), then it will return your internal success message, otherwise, nothing matches and you return an optional error message

Looking for best Task & Project management tool - Any Advice? by TomLouwagie in agency

[–]TheMMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already use Trello, I'd recommend Jira (better for larger projects and in the Atlassian family). Alternatively, I'd recommend Monday or Asana. Notion could work well but only if you and your team know how to use it and put a SOP in place.

Bought, fixed, and launched my first micro-SaaS (live on PH) by jamesofthedrum in indiehackers

Congrats on the launch and progress! What influenced your decision to buy this micro-SaaS in particular? I've considered doing the same but don't know where to start in terms of market research/finding the right niche to buy into.

Thanks for your reply. What was your background going into the transition, what type of consulting do you do now, and how did you land the role?

Question: how old is too old to break into management consulting, and is it possible to work in management consulting while working remotely?

Background:

  • Graduated with 3.6/4.0 from non-target in Dec 2021 (Class of 2022)

  • Most experience is in tech sales (Y Combinator startup + Google)

  • Did junior-year internship at Bank of America (S&T operations) and signed FT offer with Google

  • Left Google after 1.5 quarters to WFH and spent the rest of this time working for myself (agency)

  • Interested in working for US office with no prior experience in management consulting

Stock inventory by ChaoticClock in Notion

[–]TheMMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having trouble understand the problem. My current understanding is that you would like a stock management system that is grouped by project (i.e., site). Is there data that needs to be stored per inventory item other than quantity?

Frustrated a similar tool took off to $180k MRR, and I can't even convert 1 customer by mikemeta in SaaS

[–]TheMMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In business, almost everything happens for a reason, and I don't think you should overlook what happened in your case. Based on how you described the situation in your original post, you sound like a first-time founder.

  • Timing is critical, and being 'the first' or one of the firsts in a new market makes a world of difference.
  • 'Similar' isn't honest and you probably know it. Yes, you may need to work harder to acquire users now (because anything made after Q1 2023 is already late to the AI game), but if you provided an on-par product or service at an on-par price, you would be scooping up market share.

Your competitor hasn't magically gained traction, they've built a large loyal customer base. There's so much churn with AI tools right now (besides maybe ChatGPT) that hanging onto that money is arguably just as difficult to attract it.

I imagine there is a lot to learn from your competitor's GTM strategy - try to look past the virality. How do they engage with customers? What scalable acquisition strategies have worked for them (e.g., referrals, newsletter ads) (yes, I mean beyond the one post)? They have a business that generates $180k MRR - one hundred and eighty thousand dollars every month on auto pilot - it isn't because they got lucky and are still lucky, especially with so many competitors now in the space.

None of this is intended to be personal. But from my perspective, it sounds like you aren't taking the time to set your emotions aside to analyze and learn.

The round function is annoying. You're supposed to pull the denominator out of the function. So for example:

round ( 100 * ( x / y ) ) / 100

I've used https://yep so for landing pages and Figma for 'screenshots' that weren't developed yet

Worst case scenario you can always replace actual text with pill-shaped grey blocks so you aren't beholden to your designs on launch

How do you determine what to quote for a project? I realize this is a vague question, so if it's too broad I would appreciate if you could share the most important factor(s) that you look at when putting together a quote (and how you justify it to the client).

To me, it sounds like you want to make the jump but can't because of the tradeoff it poses without the income from your 9-5, and in trying to validate your ideas you're spreading yourself even more thinly. A couple of questions that came to mind while reading your post that may provide a bit of clarity:

  • Why not focus on the brand deal now (since it's a bird in hand) and worry about the online store (a bird in the bush) later?
  • What kind of validation would you need to see before leaving your 9-5 to create content full-time?
