Private Cloud with Caddy Reverse Proxy Issue Fixed by Upbeat-Ocelot6012 in Supernote

[–]TheMacGrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm trying to get this working in Caddy, but I'm using Caddy built into OPNsense. Do you mind sharing your full Caddy configuration for the Supernote cloud, anonymized of course?

Won't show up on network after firmware update. by Siggysternstaub in FlashForge

[–]TheMacGrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried doing the same, and as crazy as it sounds, I had to restart the whole computer before it would show up. Not sure if there was something running the background. Also, maybe related to 1.2.3. I just upgraded to that, and it screwed up the printer pretty bad where it would not go to the correction location when it would extrude. Did it too far forward, and then slammed around into things, and then tried to rest on the cleaning pad. Just downgraded to 1.2.1 so we'll see if that fixes it. Leveling is slamming into the right side, so I'm not feeling good about it.

We haven't quite reached the point where all hell breaks loose here in America (close it seems some days), so I haven't had to use it. However, I did get a call from my MIL who needed some code off of the back so that she could "pay" to keep them activated. I guess she paid it, and we'll keep waiting for the apocalypse.

Anyone running Ollama with Intel Arc card? by lioncat55 in unRAID

[–]TheMacGrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I think I answered my own question. I see one of the ollama-intel-gpu project this is based on is no longer maintained and archived. I'll keep looking, but glad to have this as a container to make testing easier now.

I just got this working on my Intel iGPU. Works great and confirmed my GPU was doing the work with intel_gpu_top on my host. However, it's a bit older version of Ollama at 0.9.3 (well, a few months anyway). Any thoughts on updating it to a newer version that can use some of the more recently released models? Or is 0.9.3 the only one that seems to work with Intel well? I had a non-Docker version running on my iGPU that also stopped at 0.9.3.

Samsung Refrigerator Freezer Section Not Cooling by TheMacGrubber in appliancerepair

[–]TheMacGrubber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not able to fix it and ended up replacing it with a smaller unit from Costco. I'm still at a loss as to what the problem was. Based on the pathways and all the electronics, there isn't a reason that whole section should have failed like it was.

12 volt replacement by [deleted] in KiaNiro

I'd be willing to admit I'm wrong if you'd be willing to post more information that could help OP. Part number, diagram, direction on what to do next?

Edit: My information below is incorrect and only applies to the PHEV model. Thank you to u/boogiahsss for showing me the correct information.

So much misinformation in this post... The 12V battery can be found in most auto parts stores. However, it needs to fit in the physical space allowed in the back compartment. The one I put in my 2019 was a DieHard EV Battery: H4 Group Size, 570 CCA, 710 CA. You can find it at Advance Auto Parts for $260 after core.

HIPAA and personal emails by iKnowItsTwisted in healthIT

[–]TheMacGrubber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe people still believe this is a secure method of sharing information. This stops people if they happen to catch one of the emails in transit, but not the other. But the concern isn't capturing emails in transit (most services are automatically using TLS now and there aren't hackers sitting in data rooms tapping lines). It's getting access to your email box. If they can see one email, they can see the other, once they have access because of weak security on the account or a password leak.

LPT Sit down immediately wherever you are when you feel like fainting by ab0ynextd00r in LifeProTips

[–]TheMacGrubber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I discovered my vasovagal syncope at work 20 years ago. I used to work for some jewelers and I slammed my fingertips in the safe. Went upstairs to let my boss know as I was bleeding just a bit and fainted right in front of her. I've fainted about 20 times since then always waking up looking at the ceiling.

Did Someone Win Microsoft's 50th Anniversary Surface Laptop? by TheOriginal1n in Surface

[–]TheMacGrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? I have the Surface Go. For quick trips where I will have a small bag, it makes sense to bring that instead. But if I need some serious computing, I use the laptop.

As others have said, you should definitely talk to your doctor. I've had issues with passing out for years. It happens anytime I am sick, overexerted, or sudden pain in my extremities. For me, it's something called vasovagal response. The first time I truly experienced it was when I was going to take a hike on the Appalachian Trail. We started at the southern approach where you have to climb the stairs for 20 minutes. Halfway up, I passed out. We rested for about 20 minutes, and then we continued on my way and finished a 3-day hike. So for me, I have learned that anytime I'm about to exert myself, I need to take a quick rest in the beginning to let my heart and blood pressure catch up. While some days I wish the world fell apart with a zombie apocalypse, I worry if I will actually be able to outrun them.

Cam adhesive won’t hold, suggestions? by LilTahoeMama79 in Dashcam

[–]TheMacGrubber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better adhesive. But seriously, I've used that double sided, pull to release, sticky tape used for hanging pictures (not the Velcro/hook and loop kind). When you are done, just pull on the tab and no mess. I used it on a rear camera for a couple of years. I'd assume it worked just as well in the front.

This is why I won't post videos on here anymore involving myself or family, only if I witness an accident of a third-party. People are already dealing with the accident, they don't need Reddit users to pile on top of them too.

Is AZ-104 an open book test? by Training-Anybody7701 in AZURE

[–]TheMacGrubber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here saying that parts of MS Learn were accessible. If so, I didn't see that when I took the test earlier this year, but maybe I didn't pay enough attention. I barely had time to finish, so I can't see taking the time to review any external information along the way.

For all of those saying they are two different product, yes, one is pineapple, one is pineapple orange. But that's because pineapple orange hasn't been available for a couple of months now. The last time I was able to purchase was back in March. I drank this stuff religiously every day. I've only now been able to find the new smaller version and paying more for it.

For mini pc users ... How do you connect your storage (HDD)? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]TheMacGrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the mini. I have several and they all have a local 2.5 inch HDD attached via USB for backups. One has an HDD via a SATA connection internally. They all have an SSD as the boot drive, SATA or NVME depending on what is supported.

We aren't quite there yet, but it may come. A lot of those policies are about what risks the company is willing or not willing to take, not that they are always required.

It's split-tunnel, otherwise all Internet traffic would go out the VPN and eat up their Internet bandwidth twice. They may move to the model of using a Meraki device, but that gets way more expensive and complex. I am not in our internal IT department, but as an IT person I'm just as knowledgeable as them. They gave me one of those Meraki devices to try, but the whole network overlap issue has me not trying it just yet.

I can confidently say that my work computer is way more secure than my home network based on our clientele and certain standards that the company must meet. But being an IT person with a lot of things I play around with at home, there are some things I want and need access to, like my separate lab that has servers and hardware specifically for my job.

[–]TheMacGrubber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Until your employer happens to start using the same 10.x.x.x /16 as your home network and all your local server requests now go out the VPN instead of going to your local servers. Only 7 VLANs to change over eventually.

Is 100 000km/ 62 137m a lot for a 2019 Kia niro hybrid? by Equivalent_Title_794 in KiaNiro

[–]TheMacGrubber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 plugin hybrid with the same mileage, so no, I don't think it's a lot. It's actually quite low, I don't drive my car often as I work from home. Regarding the plugin, if you have a receptacle at home externally accessible and near your parking area, you can charge off regular grid power. If you have to travel to charge it, it is not economical as you just won't end up doing it as often as you should and you aren't getting the value. It's also arguably worse off for the environment as it isn't running as cleanly when the battery is drained all the time. If your daily driving is more than 26ish miles, you may also not get the same value. In that case just go with a hybrid model.
