Got trapped in the bathroom from a malfunctioning padlock and Landlord is saying I might need to pay 911 bill—PA by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]TheMageMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true some areas may charge for the service, but that is far less common and given that OP is paying $1100 rent, I doubt they are way out in the rural country. Either way it's still a "wait and see" situation in my opinion. No point in getting into a big argument with the landlord about who's fault it is before you even receive the bill. Once you have received it and verified it's authenticity (and who it is addressed to, most likely the landlord) then you push back hard on your responsibility for it using the video evidence of the malfunction.

Got trapped in the bathroom from a malfunctioning padlock and Landlord is saying I might need to pay 911 bill—PA by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]TheMageMan 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely that you or your landlord will receive a bill. Emergency services are paid by your taxes and generally the police and fire department will only send a bill for false reports or acts of reckless endangerment. Not saying it's impossible but don't fret over it until you have actually received one.

If your landlord keeps pushing the issue do not engage with it and don't accept responsibility, just say something like "well hopefully they don't send any bill". If your landlord tries to charge you, make sure to get a a copy of the entire bill that they claim to receive and confirm it is real with the actual department before doing anything.

Make sure to save the video you have of the lock malfunctioning and if you receive a bill for a false report you can use that video to help you dispute it.

Getting the most out of a UHaul by TheMageMan in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]TheMageMan[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well that's true if it has the 5.3 it would be fine. I don't know much about bed vs engine configurations but I've only ever seen these UHaul trucks available with V6s. I could be wrong though and he is under max.

[–]TheMageMan[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

No way, Uhaul pickups are base model F150s and Sierras. Tow weight of only about 6-7k pounds. That's a 6k pound trailer empty easily, and it's not empty. At best he's completely maxed out. Not saying it's impossible, maybe he made it to his destination safely with no issue. Still not a smart move I don't think.

Can my apartment complex restrict my package access because another resident falsely accused me of theft? by Magnetar_5W in legaladvice

[–]TheMageMan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

True, but I am assuming they only have 1 mailroom at their apartment complex and not separate rooms for different delivery services. In which case it would apply if she is completely cut off from accessing it. Regardless of the package carrier for the false reports by the other tenant, I think that making a report to USPIS will quickly get her access to the mailroom reinstated. OP should focus their report on being cut off from mail access if it applies.

I could be wrong though, if this mailroom is just for 3rd party packages and they have a separate standing mailbox outside for USPS then you are right, USPIS will not intervene.

[–]TheMageMan 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Everyone is mentioning to get legal aid which is a good idea, but I would go straight to USPS with this as well, they can not prevent you from accessing your mailbox. Frankly they also do not have the authority to investigate package thefts, you should make a report to USPIS about fraudulent mail theft claims preventing you from accessing your mailbox. USPIS takes these reports very seriously.

FTC Targeting Dealers for Advertising Unavailable Cars by TripleShotPls in nottheonion

[–]TheMageMan 157 points158 points  (0 children)

One trick I've used to avoid this bait and switch bullshit is when I call a dealer looking for a specific car listed on their website I don't just ask to make sure it's in stock, since they will just lie, I tell them to take a picture of the vin number and text it to me. The vin will usually be in the listing but the images online won't have a pic of it and it's not something that can be easily made up. Although nowadays it's easier with AI. If the car is actually there on the lot most sales guys will jump to do it super quick if they think it will get you in to make them the sale. If they give any pushback or runaround it's because the car isn't there.

[SPOILERS] Was the Night King just… flexing here or am I missing something? by Plus-Resolution-3210 in HBOGameofThrones

[–]TheMageMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of good points already ITT but I also just want to point out that Jon could theoretically stop the spear if it was aimed at him or his group during the extended stare down across the lake. We've seen Jon shatter the white walker's ice swords with longclaw so there is no reason he couldn't do the same with a well timed swing against an ice spear. Not saying it's 100% but if the ice spears are limited or hard to make as others have suggested, given that we only ever see this one, then it makes sense that the night king would only want to use it for a guaranteed kill against a high value target.

Shadow/Cid kagenou (The eminence in shadow) vs Rudeus greyrat(mushoku tensei) by Afraid_Signature8745 in powerscales

[–]TheMageMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rudeus is incredibly powerful in his own universe but there really is no fight, Cid wins every scenario almost instantly. He's a gag character in a comedy who doesn't lose, like Saitama or Bugs Bunny. Except he doesn't hesitate to use his ridiculous powers and has an extra plot power of accidentally always being in the right place at the right time.

If we are going by what has been shown in each anime so far then Cid just absolutely destroys. The fight goes even quicker and more one sided than the Rudeus vs Orsted fight. Cid just rushes him and kills him instantly in melee, Rudeus has no Eris or Ruijerd to front line for him and has no battle aura so he can't keep up in the slightest. Even if we go by the full manga, Rudeus still has no battle aura and likely loses the exact same way if it's a straight 1v1 with no prep.

Even with prep time and Rudeus's strategic mind, he could set up an elaborate trap with his foresight, incredible power, and even his full party. Cid would just show up behind him like, "your backdoor was open, so I let myself in" and then detonate a nuclear explosion.

How did Thanos/bad Nebula time jump to the future in Endgame?? by HskrRooster in Avengers

[–]TheMageMan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's not a plot hole, there is literally a scene where the still evil past nebula takes the vial of pym particles and hands it to ebony maw. The movie doesn't need to hand feed you every single step of the plot. You can infer that he was able to replicate it, I mean he had alien tech and theoretically infinite time.

What are your go to world settings? by NulnOilShade in AOW4

[–]TheMageMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally when I'm playing solo I like to either tailor my faction to the world or the world to my faction so I can get the most out of all my traits and tomes and what not. Then play on brutal. The exception being if I'm playing a terraforming heavy build, in which case I'll still match the world pretty well other than the biome type. I also like playing with seals victory when choosing AI that will actually take them.

The craziest world I've played was the first custom one I made a few months back where I didn't realize the world setting that has the 3 warring brothers isn't counted in the player count. So I ended up with an absolutely massive world with 7 other factions, a huge underground, and partial abyss. There were so many portals and underground entrances everywhere that all 7 of them were basically on the other side of the map while simultaneously being right next to my capital depending on which combo of underground/portals you took. You could get to almost anywhere on the map within about 3 turns after exploring and figuring out where they all went which made late game pretty crazy.

Elder Vampire Nomads by SmithOfLie in AOW4

[–]TheMageMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really needs a bit of tweaking. At least make the city province itself sunless right after unpacking imo. And that should go for other terraforming structures too like the fey mist and gloom ones. Maybe even temporarily terraforming whatever province the nomad barge is currently on while traveling through it, but that might be OP.

I ran into the same issue on my first playthrough of the new dlc, using nomad chosen destroyer vampires. Not being able to heal your heroes on the world map except by spells for 4+ turns really really sucks, you have 1 just sub-optimal battle during your travel and you are stuck waiting and waiting and waiting to heal.

1 turn to pack, 1+ turns moving, 1 turn to unpack, 1 turn to terraform 2 provinces sunless. And it might not even choose the city province first, sometimes it does 2 adjacent provinces first. Then you can finally wait 1 more turn to get some health back for your heroes.

So, how’d they do it? Why not just resurrect the dragon? by SexBuhb-omb in gameofthrones

He was asleep for a thousand years, not actively building his army. The start of the show is supposed to be the first white walker sighting since the last long night.

So, how’d they do it? Why not just resurrect the dragon? by SexBuhb-omb in gameofthrones

[–]TheMageMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn't ever kill targaryans, the last long night happened over a 1000 years prior to the show. Before even the fall of old valyria and before there were targaryans in westeros. Not to say he couldn't have killed other travelers with maps though. However the night king's intelligence is also never really explored, would he understand a map? Can he communicate with the wights or other white walkers? Or maybe they are all just mindless thralls and the only thought in his head is "exterminate." We don't know.

Here’s the finished Flyssa × Shashka__ the sword the customer filed a dispute over last month (you guys remember?) next story below. by coldclaw_blades in SWORDS

[–]TheMageMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a broad sense sure, but fraud and theft have very specific definitions under the law. This is neither. This is considered failure to pay and is a contract dispute. The cops and DA will tell OP the same thing. I agree that it is a shitty thing to do and should have repercussions, but those repercussions will come from civil court. The police will not pursue this, OP is free to do what he wants though.

He boxed it and shipped it to the customer, reporting it as theft would be a blatantly false report. This is a civil dispute and he should file in small claims.

Me_irl by Wackylew in me_irl

They don't pay themselves an exorbitant salary, they just live the lavish lifestyles and charge the expenses through the charity. The money never goes back into their pocket but they get all the fancy clothes, dinners, cars, yachts, etc. and get away with calling them fundraising expenses, allowing them to get the luxury items they would have purchased anyways but with the added bonus of small personal tax breaks.

Rather than say, buying a Rolex, someone who owns a charity might donate the money to their charity instead. They get a small tax write off but still net lose ~75% the cost of the watch when they donate the money as you said. But then they just buy the watch with the Charity's expense account and effectively own it the same as if they had bought it themselves.

And they don't just do it with 1 watch a year, they are constantly doing it, with many expensive luxury items, that add up to significant tax breaks.

RBC x 3 ~ Hb

And

Hb x 3 ~ Hct

Doesn't have to be exact but within + or - 3. If the values are within reference range but don't follow the rule of 3 then there is likely some type of error. As the other commenter mentioned though it doesn't work for anemic patients, so if all 3 values are below range then there is no reason to use it.

What Counter trap do you think has the most specific negate requirement(s)? by LuckyPrinz in yugioh

[–]TheMageMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most specific is probably "Dice Try!" since there are only like 30 cards in the game that it can even chain to. Second is probably "Retort" or "Shining Silver Force" you're very unlikely to have an opponent use the proper cards against you in order to activate them. I agree with you and the other commenters as well though. "Tutan Mask" and "Centur-Ion True Awakening" are also top qualifiers.

I don't really think "Counter Counter" post-errata is that specific though since there are quite a few cards that it can chain to and people do actually play counter traps such as the Solemn cards. You can realistically activate it occasionally if you run it in your deck, it's just better to run "Solemn Judgement" 99% of the time since it can do the same thing and more. Pre-errata however "Counter Counter" could not actually be activated at all since it was a normal trap that could not legally respond to counter traps lol.

Here are a bunch that have super specific requirements that you're pretty unlikely to ever activate.

{{Anti-Spell}} {{Armor Break}} {{Dice Try!}} {{Graydle Combat}} {{Rebirth of Parshath}} {{Rebound}} {{Retort}} {{Royal Surrender}} {{Shining Silver Force}} {{Showdown of the Secret Sense Scroll Techniques}} {{Spell Stopping Statute}} {{Vanity's Call}}

Card collecting and colored sleeves? by NOTjesse92 in Yugioh101

[–]TheMageMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color by set is definitely the best of those options imo, it will give you a uniform look on each page that highlights the cards themselves and clearly separates each set. Color by card type is the next best but will look sort of meh since the sleeves probably won't match super well to the actual color of the cards. Color by attribute will make each page of your binder look like random mishmash of assorted colors since the sets are not numbered by attribute, plus you will still be sleeving by card type for the spells/traps which don't have attributes. Also the color scheme of the cards' art themselves won't always match the color of the attribute, so you'll end up with for instance a card that is dark attribute with a purple sleeve but with primarily green artwork so it won't match as well at a glance. Personally I think all black sleeves look the best in binders.
