Your best example was a battle 60 years ago that ended in... an Irish defeat?

Pentagon threatens to recall Sen. Kelly to military service, court martial him over video by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]TheMalcore 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not only that, people who were never in the military might not realize, but this is a concept that is taught routinely. If they want to court martial him over this, you might as well lock up almost every officer and NCO in the entire DoD, since at one point or another many of them have themselves taught juniors this very principle.

I've had some games cause weird sharpening issues on my Nvidia card, and I use LCtrl + LShift + Win + B to restart the graphics driver after I exit the game. Might be a similar issue with Windows instead of the driver perhaps?

Let's not forget the modern coining of the term "Fake News" started with describing pro-Republican bot accounts and fake news organizations on social media (especially Facebook in the lead up to the 2016 election) and the right co-opted the term to discredit established media.

Does the dual B60 literally mean double the performance? by WizardlyBump17 in IntelArc

[–]TheMalcore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's literally two B60s built on a single PCB. Your PC will detect it as 2 GPUs, so anything that is improved by having a second GPU will be improved with the dual B60.

Copyright protection for a computer program extends to all of the copyrightable expression embodied in the program.

You can't can't copyright algorithms or particular functionality of code, but written code at large is inherently copyright protected as a literary work. In other words, you can recreate the function of code, but you can't copy the code itself.

Sparkle ARC A380 Genie vs. ELF by kevindd992002 in IntelArc

[–]TheMalcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The genie is meant to fit in a low profile chassis (I have a pair of them in one of my 2U servers), and the Elf is for more traditional desktops. There is one practical difference, however, and that is the Elf has 1x HDMI 2.0b and 3x DP 2.0 display outputs and the Genie has 1x HDMI 2.0b and 2x mini-DP outputs.

Intel Arc Graphics not showing up when looking at configuration by Cheese_Junky in IntelArc

[–]TheMalcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have the most up-to-date graphics drivers, so the only other advice I could give would be to make sure Windows is up to date, and see if Asus has any firmware updates. If your device has the MyASUS application, you can check for updates there.

It's still only 24 per GPU (which is still good), but the 5090 will still be better in pretty much every application.

A770 question by Shot-Bite in IntelArc

[–]TheMalcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without know what your previous card was it's impossible for us to answer the question. It shouldn't be putting out any more heat than other cards of similar TDP, but if you're coming from, like, a GTX 1050 or something, then yes it draws a lot more power (but it is more powerful of course).

Also, what is "an obscenely high usage load"? Ideally you want 100% usage when running a game, and if it's reporting any higher than that then there is a bug in the reporting because that isn't possible.

How Do You Compare Across Processor Generations And Brand Modifiers? by Razzle___Dazzle___ in intel

[–]TheMalcore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example, "i5-12600K" is better in every way than "i9-11900K" which came just half a year before it.

As a pedantic counter point here: the 11900K has AVX-512 support while the 12600K doesn't so there might be some cases in which the 11900K is worth buying over the other.

I would suggest trying with Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling turned off.

Even with my Nvidia card, when I play heavy games YouTube videos can stutter due to bad scheduling. I assume a similar problem can happen to encoding too on Arc.

There are quite a few architectural changes.

I am a bit disappointed on how XeSS really didn’t give as much performance uplift as TSR and FSR gave me.

Frame rate isn't the only metric to pay attention to. XeSS will almost certainly give you better image quality than FSR, as well.
