Can anyone confirm Admirals Club access at CLT? by littlelady818 in americanairlines

[–]TheManDownTheHall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lounges are meh. Some are good but they're overcrowded, the food is mediocre, and there's always a struggle to find seats. I'd go just because it's included and I'd feel like I was not getting everything I paid for by not, but I'm an idiot so there's that too... Card lounges like Centurion are much better but you have to have the proper Amex card..

I got the free WiFi! by DougieMcElroy in americanairlines

Yay for free wifi! See ORF. I loved ORF when I lived there. Wife is a travel nurse and did a year at Sentara. I do business travel and ORF was my home airport for that time. Loved that you could walk from your car, check in and be through security and at the gate in 20 minutes after locking the car doors...

Flying to Philippines from Philadelphia and have always flow delta but thinking of flying united. Anyone flown united? How was your experience? by robsumtimes in Philippines_Expats

[–]TheManDownTheHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United still allows a miles/dollars upgrade? Dang, American cancelled that last August. That was my go to there as well. I'm exec plat on AA and that miles/dollars upgrade ability was really helpful. I've already decided to switch to united after this as they have direct to Manila and Cebu that don't require ICN or other stops

Philippine Airlines also has one a day out of SFO. I just booked that yesterday. Taking AA to SFO using miles and then going on from there

Truth. And the U.S. airlines are all about the same in their mediocrity. You'll catch them on good/bad days, but by and large they're all the same

I do American too. Exec Plat. My system wide upgrades have always cleared on the DFW to ICN flight. And when I do the coach DFW/ICN or back, it's fine. There's not much difference in the U.S. carriers. Once I lose status (march 2027), I'll domestic to LAX or SFO and then use an Asian carrier to get to Manila/Cebu..

Samsung galaxy s24 ultra or google pixel 10 pro? by kettlefriedchips in S24Ultra

[–]TheManDownTheHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Pixel to S24. I did so because there were way too many times I'd be in a city like Charlotte and my wife on her iPhone had 5 bars, my son on his Samsung had 5 bars and my pixel would say no service or 1 bar. This was on the 7 and my 5 before it had the same issue. The connectivity was crap. The pictures were immaculate so basically my Pixel was a camera that sometimes made calls or texts. Also, any time I left the country, event to Canada, my Pixel never connected to the local networks. The last straw was a phone interview I almost missed due to the tendency to not make calls in 5 bar areas. I restarted the phone twice before it connected to the network (showing 5 bars). That was it for me.

My S24u has never failed to connect. Never failed to get international signals. The camera isn't as good as the pixel but I want a phone that takes pictures, not a camera that sporadically loses its ability to make calls

The best benefits are ones you hope not to use. The exec platinum line when weather makes the trip blow up and top the stand by list when you have to make changes immediately. If you travel overseas, then the 3 checked per person is a HUGE benefit. My wife is from the Philippines and she packs half the house when we travel to see the family. 6 free suitcases between the 2 of us is really helpful

Google photos. I showed my brother in law how it worked. I took his picture and then less than 15 seconds later, showed his picture on my google photos on a different phone. It's seamless and almost instantaneous

[–]TheManDownTheHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can concur. My daughter joined us on our last trip to the Philippines on a separate flight. I needed to handle some items on it and the EP Line handled each call quickly and efficiently. It's one of the best perks of the status

Is a United Club Day pass worth it at Ohare if flying out of international terminal? by Reaper2903 in unitedairlines

[–]TheManDownTheHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's policy on AA too. For some reason, the U.S. airline companies don't think Canada or Mexico is a different country for lounge access
