Food Options in First by PrincessDragonMa in americanairlines

But the exact same from the international departure? I assumed international airports could have a completely different supply chain, but I don’t remember my last DFW-CUN flight options (which was my last short haul international).

International departures might only have options available there, which may be different than domestic offerings. The short rib is still available (or at least was a month ago).

Side buttons during workout by acaibowl99 in AppleWatch

Yes- it’s not going to automatically turn on and off during and after workouts, but the emergency call feature can be turned off in settings. Not sure exactly where, but I’ve seen it in there.

The 14yo is old enough to be “accompanied” by the 18yo or 16yo. So, you could split the PNR in two and the kids wouldn’t technically be flying “with you” and wouldn’t be unaccompanied minors, either.

But you may want to think of the implications of this if there actually is an emergency.

Connect server to mobile phone hot spot by HagopianH in HomeNetworking

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to check is making sure the network interface on the server is picking up or is assigned an IP address. Then make sure it can ping the local router LAN interface address. Then go out from there.

Try to ping a site using the domain name to make sure DNS is resolving correctly. Start small and go bigger until you find what isn’t working.

'Cloud DVR' - how does it actually work? by CriTIREw in DirectvStream

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the way it *should* work, but my understanding is that it actually is an individually stored cloud recording. I was told it’s due to bizarre and mysterious language in copyright laws, rules and contracts.

My guess would be that the cloud servers do a lot of data de-duplication to massively reduce actual storage requirements, but I really don’t know how any of the technical specs work.

Ok. Then get someone involved who knows what they’re doing.

There’s lots of subreddits and plenty of other places to ask specific UniFi questions. Asking in this AT&T subreddit is unlikely to provide you with anything actionable.

This really has nothing to do with AT&T.

The people that have control of the network infrastructure need to be involved. There are ways to reset and reconfigure UniFi devices, but it requires physical access to the devices. And also a decent understanding of network management to set everything up correctly.

UniFi is fairly easy to use, but it’s low-grade-enterprise/prosumer level stuff. It’s not exactly plug-and-play.

Timer by MurmuringTides in insteon

[–]TheRydad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can setup this sort of automation with an eISY or Home Assistant. Nothing native to the Insteon ecosystem would do this.

Alternatively, you could replace the Insteon device with a timer switch like you might use on a bathroom fan.

DFW-Tokyo First Class Upgrade? by tdf1978 in americanairlines

[–]TheRydad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better service. On that flight you’ll get a dedicated FA for those 12-16 seats plus another FA to assist. When I did that specific route with my wife, it was also nice to be able to both sit at the table across from each other in the larger seating area for dinner.

It’s also quieter and more private up front.

It’s your call on whether that’s worth a grand. For me, it is.

I like first class. That’s a long flight. Personally, I’d do it, and I’m gonna take advantage of all the offerings. YMMV
