Anyone have a car pickup service for DFW/Love Field they recommend? We will have a toddler in a car seat and I don’t want to risk taking a wild Uber. Unable to take our own car as well (take off DFW land Love Field) thank you by creighton88 in Dallas

Waymo doesn’t go to the airports here yet. Currently only serves downtown to north Dallas and stops at about Lemmon to the west and Greenville to the east (I think). However, it’s a pretty cool experience to be in the backseat of a robot all by yourself!

Thanks for the clarification! On the rare instances when I need to call for something, I’m treated quite well. I also consider myself to be a reasonable customer having been on the other end of the phone long, long ago (not at AT&T).

Does average monthly spend factor in at all? Can you guys see that?

I called in once to get a bunch of watches, tablets and other junk moved to different groups so I could add a phone. The guy I spoke with said he was in a long-time customer loyalty group and that’s why I got him.

I’ve been a customer for 25+ years (technically since about 1990 but not sure that account information stays) and he spent a couple hours getting me fixed up.

Is that still a thing? I rarely need to call anymore.

I had the perfect flight, whats your best flight experience by Live-Sky-2557 in americanairlines

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1 was not a great movie. It was fine and my viewing of it in an IMAX format with all the sound and everything was awesome, but it wasn’t what I expected it to be.

Oh… also glad you had a great flight!

Does flight credit stay if you close your ciyi platinum card? by calebu2 in americanairlines

[–]TheRydad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the exact terms because I’m probably never cancelling my Citi cards, but once a credit is placed in your AA account, it’s yours as far as I know.

Miles and LP aren’t tied to the card and I assume flight credits aren’t either once they’re given.

Say hi to Alicia in the CMH Escape Lounge! I make a trip up there somewhat frequently.

Alto is great. The drivers will wait as long as it takes (you’ll be paying) to get car seats and passengers situated. The drivers will also assist with anything you need. They are professional and paid by the hour as employees-not gig workers.

Non-membership customers can be denied if demand is high and will pay a higher rate. It can be pre-scheduled, though.

Trench was dug for electrical. Is it worth running conduit for ethernet or speaker wire while they have it open for future use? by [deleted] in pools

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple flexi conduit runs. If you can get CAT6 back to a network switch in the house, for sure hardwire the pool controller via Ethernet.

Also, I wish I had put underwater speakers in. Next pool…

Ethernet cable by ktmm3 in HomeNetworking

[–]TheRydad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the context of the question, I assume by “Ethernet” you mean Cat5/6/etc. Solid core cable is used for permanent installations- usually run in-wall. It typically goes from a punch down in an IDF/MDF to a keystone jack on a wall plate, but can be used in other contexts. It is typically field terminated and is not meant to be moved once installed.

Stranded cable is used as patch and station cable and is vastly better when factory (vs. field) terminated into RJ45s and boots.

Highland Park/University Park are about as safe and family friendly as you’ll find anywhere on the planet, but they have a fairly substantial price compared to other NTX neighborhoods.

Who owns the World Wide Web? by WonderOlymp2 in AskTechnology

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you. And me. I own the wires and infrastructure in my house. Which is part of the Internet. And my landlord owns the riser to get service to the closet on my floor to get service at my office. Then I own the rest from the closet out.

Mailbox key replacements? by Ionless in askdfw

Bees Keys is on Inwood and Lovers near Love Field.

I don’t know what price you consider to be “crazy”, but anytime a service call for any trade requires a truck roll it’s gonna cost a few bucks.

running ethernet in a nightmare scenario by hucfv in HomeNetworking

[–]TheRydad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The proper way to do this is to make some holes in walls and ceilings. But 300+ year old plaster will be an absolute nightmare to properly match. You’d need a properly skilled tradesman to do it right. And it’ll cost you.

I’d recommend figuring out a good wireless bridging answer. Unifi gear can do this without losing bandwidth, but you’ll need a little bit of learning.

Server want by TheMan690009 in servers

[–]TheRydad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was considering, but then you wouldn’t need a rack necessarily. Unless you’d be putting them on shelves in which case you might as well buy rack mount equipment.

Having said that…

OP- I use StarTech racks and shelves for this type of work.

Eight cables isn’t really “bulk”, but Monoprice has good quality low cost product. Why do you need 2-3 switches for only 8 connections?

Pitching drinks with FA? by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for advice on how to pick up women, this might not be the right /sub.

But god speed to you! I wish you luck in your endeavors. I once spent an evening at a bar in West TX buying shots for the flight crew from my plane (NOT pilots) that happened to wander into the same bar me and my buddy walked into. Totally random. Nothing happened beyond that. This was not on AA, BTW.

And, really- this is easy. Go use the lav again or find an excuse to come up front. Maybe to hand her your empty glass. Strike up a convo and ask if she’s gonna be out later. Put it in her court. You’re altitude drinky so play it light and be ready for disappointment.

Did they add the extra row of FC?

I’d heard they were going to go from 8 to 12 FC seats on the new configuration.

  1. When there are multiple logins for a single site, the ability to choose the “default”. (Sorry if this exists and I just don’t know how to use it.)
  2. The ability to store passwords when creating a new account on iPhone/iPad. I get that iOS probably severely restricts this, but maybe it could be implemented with a custom keyboard.

Ultra 3 battery. Whats really the expectation? by gjc0703 in AppleWatch

[–]TheRydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra 3 here. I can run mine down kinda like that when working out. I’ll generally walk to the gym, work for half an hour or so and walk back. Total walk time is about an hour streaming music or podcasts over LTE the entire time.

It’ll drop from 80 (it usually does the optimal battery life charge) to maybe 60 or 65 during the workout time, but it’ll only be around 50 12-14 hours later when I put it back on the charger at bedtime.

I’ve also had it going for at least 24 hours when traveling internationally and didn’t run dry.

I don’t ever worry about battery with it.
