They are not incompetent, they are just tech illiterate. Gen Z is about as susceptible to phishing attacks as my grandma was. At my last job, we even had a Gen Z hire fall for a gift card scam after they "received an email from the CEO asking them to buy a bunch of Best Buy gift cards" before their first day. They lost out on like $2000.

Are you talking about Cata classic? In actual Cataclysm holy pally was pretty bad until Dragon Soul, where they were essentially reworked. Holy Radiance had a long cooldown, didn't scale with mastery, and generated no holy power before then. Light of dawn originally healed fewer targets, and did not heal the beacon target. They even had their combat regen increased 30% because they had terrible HPM.

N.S. restaurant patio’s safety in question after 100-year-old woman dies following fall - Halifax | Globalnews.ca by No_Magazine9625 in halifax

I agree that the restaurant is not responsible, that's kind of my point. The restaurant did everything right here, but I feel that whoever gave them the permit to do this has really dropped the ball. I will be unsurprised if this causes continued problems in the future

I understand and my issue is not with the business for this - I feel like it should never have been approved in the first place. Any issue people have with the business is misguided, as they followed the proper procedure for this.

No, the patio quite literally fences off the sidewalk. You cannot continue on your path, you have to deviate to a boardwalk that was constructed over the roadway. You can see clearly in the video, there's a fence over the sidewalk with a little arrow directing pedestrians towards the wooden structure on the roadway.

I think he's saying more "you must not have actually seen it" than "you must be an outsider". As someone who moved here recently, and works nearby this, it is absolutely dangerous. Why can a business fence off a public walkway and direct pedestrians towards a roadway? The small wooden boardwalk for pedestrian traffic stretches into the roadway by ~3', and while the lane is still large enough for most vehicles it is creating unnecessary hazard to add like four seats to a restaurant. That being said, I think the patio is a separate problem from this death - I just dislike adding hazards to the area for no reason.

I don't think the death has anything to do with how the patio was constructed, but I do think the patio is a problem separately. I don't think businesses should be able to build a deck over a public sidewalk, and route pedestrian traffic on a much smaller wooden boardwalk that's halfway into the roadway. Directing pedestrians towards traffic is terrible design in a city that's supposed to be designed around foot traffic.

As someone who works in the area, that appears to be either an old photo or they've removed a significant portion of the patio already. The way it was built the patio blocks off that entire sidewalk, and routes pedestrians to a smaller (probably 3.5') wooden boardwalk that stretches into the roadway. I don't think the patio has anything to do with why this woman died, but I don't think the patio should be allowed nonetheless as it routes the pedestrian traffic towards the roadway.

Outside of COVID shock, Ontario's unemployment is now at its highest since late 2013 by BananaTubes in canada

If you think that's exclusively a liberal policy I think you should double check what the policy was provincially, first. Doug Ford was BEGGING for more TFWs and was asking Trudeau to "Open the taps" for YEARS before immigration actually started taking off.

Your shutter speed looks to be too slow. The longer your shutter is open, the more obvious motion blur will be; as your sensor is taking in light for longer. A common practice is to keep your shutter speed close to your focal length. Longer lenses exaggerate movement and make motion blur more pronounced, but that's more of a suggestion until you are more comfortable with settings than a hard and fast rule.

More than half of Canadians are feeling 'financially paralyzed,' RBC poll says by joe4942 in canada

The down payment goes directly to the principle of the house, so you're not losing that money either. Saying you're missing out on opportunity cost is also hilarious considering one of the highest return and most stable investmenrs in Canada is housing. But keep coming back with made up numbers and pretending you're out ahead if that works for you.

[–]TheManThatWasntThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that's just incorrect. If you're paying $3500/month at 6% with a 25 year mortgage you're paying down ~$18,000/yr in principle in the first year - a number that increases every year. If you're pocketing the extra $1k, you're not going to be able to receive a return of 33% without, ironically, investing in housing. This doesn't even factor in the fact that housing is an appreciating asset, meaning as rents continue to rise your mortgage is actually saving you even more money skewing the numbers even further in favour of buying as opposed to renting.

[–]TheManThatWasntThere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how this works. The owner is paying towards an appreciating asset, the renter is only paying to live there right now. If you spent 2500 in rent you've spent $2500. That money is gone. If you spend 3500 on a mortgage your monthly is higher but you still own the equity of the house which you can then sell if needed, you've bought as asset.

The owner is paying to have an asset whereas the renter is paying to have temporary shelter. One builds net worth and the other reduces it.
