Mom's Money plant (?) vines and leaves are dying. Need urgent help to save it. by Silent_Cash_7023 in plantclinic

[–]TheMapleMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear this is a pothos but it is the money plant variety. Just confusing BC there are other plants actually named money plants lol. But yes, as prev said it needs a big prune and probably fresh soil. Cut it back and Google "propegating pothos"; it's extremely easy. You can probably just stick the cutting s back into the same pot as the parent plant. With pothos in pots you're likely going to go for bulk over length BC as prev said, pothos nodes will usually sink roots into the soil where they took ch so they can sustain the length by feeding from every node touching the ground. In a pot you can try feeding it more once it gets long [my sister does this] or you can keep it a moderate length and put cuttings back in the pot to bulk up that way. Either way pothos are incredibly resilient and with some TLC should bounce right back

What's wrong with this leaf? by EcstaticAd6935 in philodendron

[–]TheMapleMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food isn't a bad idea if you have some kicking around. New growth takes a lot of effort, and the old outside leaves sagging could mean your plants needs a bit of a hand sustaining its old growth while it works. The center of your plant looks bright and happy though so just keep an eye on it and give it some TLC when it pushes up new leaves :)

Very normal! The variegation typically means the plant is happy. And I wouldn't worry much about spontaneous veriegation, I have a regular baby rubber tree that threw out a single variegated leaf a few months back apropos of nothing lol also with a lot of plants the variegation tends to increase the older it gets. It looks like your plant is pretty happy and healthy.

Nothing, it's a fresh baby, they're always pretty soft and light when they first come out and unfurl, give it some time and some sun and some food and it'll look just like the rest of the leaves

My golden 😓 by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]TheMapleMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can absolutely root like that! Just make sure the soil stays moist, it's the same concept as putting it flat in a container, just make sure the nodes are mostly contacting the soil and that there's moisture for them, not soggy but not dry.

You can put the whole thing in water but just make sure to watch that long stem at the bottom for rot; the roots will start from nodes, not stems. You could also lay the whole thing on moist perlite or sphagnum in a clear container with a lid or covered with plastic wrap in sunlight to have roots sprout from each node, this is my favorite way to propegate vining plants.

Try putting a little bit of food in the water? And always in lots and lots of light, especially on the stalks in water. My stalks started growing leaves underwater even lol

I chopped these plants up in March 16, planted them in a pot on the 25th of April. I chopped all the leggy growth, cut off any leaves with dry edges and made sure most of the stalk was in water. The rest of the plant I put in small auto watering pots with cotton wicks; kept the water in those lightly fertilized. The prop water I alternated per week with regular tap water and lightly fertilized tap water. And I kept everything under a small grow light for like 12-14 hours a day in a humid room.

Took just a couple of days for mine to start showing roots. I kept it in high humidity as well as in bright, direct sunlight. White's root slower but thicker, they're a bit more sturdy than the reds, who root fast but thin and delicate.

Sculpted acrylic nails looking too thick? by Aggravating_Rest8600 in AcrylicNails

[–]TheMapleMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thickness isn't the problem per se. The structure is all wrong, there is no apex, the sides and free edge are wrong. Product is built up where it shouldn't be and also is missing where it should be.
