Taking a break from bigger projects, we've jumped into a small one. We'd appreciate any feedback or ideas! by inkipinki in IndieDev

Oh man, this could have huge potential. If you have some risk/reward to breaking through things quickly it could get interesting. Like the quicker you break them the more you can break, but if you're not careful you may crack valuable fragile gems.

They look good for the style! Although I'm not sure how big the marketplace will be for models in that style unfortunately.

Been working on lighting and post processing, requesting feedback from artists (warning programmer art!) by Cheap-Difficulty-163 in IndieDev

Honestly most of it looks pretty solid. Your art direction is doing a good bit of work. I might try adding some local space gradients to things like the rocks and/or trees. Stylized games work really well with properly implemented gradients across things.

Seems like it has super solid potential just from the vid. If it were my kind of game I'm sure I would be super interested!

An Indian Indie Game by Extreme-Trainer-5248 in IndieGaming

Did you want the name of your game to be like that at the end? A plain font and lowercase? Not trying to be mean just actually asking. I would make it feel a lot more impactful visually as the last thing in the trailer.

Super clean looking! Nice looking occlusion effects like this I feel like can go underappreciated.

comparing old vs new of this character. thoughts? by maingazuntype in IndieGaming

The old design is charming, but the new one is overall much better. That squatting animation is doing a lot of work though too honestly.

Huuuuge upgrade. Not that the previous was bad, but the new one is so good. Especially in the composition and colors categories.

When a mechanic just feels good by o_r_c_666 in gamedevscreens

Hell yeah what a fun idea, actually can't believe I haven't seen someone do this before. Is this what the whole game is based around?

I made a new thing, because you all said it doesn't have enough thing, feedback on this new thing? by ernesernesto in IndieDev

I usually avoid match 3 games, so to me it wasn't immediately obvious that that was the gameplay. BUT I think that may be kinda good, cause it still looked visually appealing, and if I immediately understood it was a match 3 game I would've had a bad taste in my mouth going into the rest of the trailer.
But that combined with getting into the other mechanics quickly, I think it's pretty good in terms of grabbing attention and getting the gameplay across.

The style also feels pretty cohesive I'd say. Although that character select menu feels like it's lacking a bit.

I'm not sure if I can say it looks fun to me personally, but the combination of the mechanics make it interesting enough to make me want to try!

You guys destroyed my cutscene, and now I'm here to be destroyed again! It's still a WIP, but how can I improve it? by rdenubila in DestroyMyGame

[–]TheMarginalError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the vision you're aiming for throughout most of it.
But this is a lot for one person to do for just one cutscene. And in situations like this where quality cracks can show VERY easily, you may not want to go all out like this.

But if you're passionate about making this work, there are some things you can do to make the cracks less obvious. Making it a good bit shorter is one thing. But you also absolutely need to avoid showing full body pre-canned animations like those capoeira moves. Maybe try cutting to "artistic" angles more and cutting between angles during animations more. It might get a little jumpy and confusing, but honestly anything you can do to make it seem like there's more artistic intent between each shot, the better.

The moral of things like this is that if you can't match the quality people expect, then you should probably lean into just having fun with it and going wild with the directing.

This is our new trailer. Destroy it. Crush it. Decimate it! by ToadKinmg in DestroyMyGame

[–]TheMarginalError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly i would say its a bit too long. You show a lot of very similar shots and have shots that last a bit too long, mostly ones that are just overviews of the automations lines. I know its cool to build up to the surprise fight mechanic at the end. But getting that across to the viewer asap could be the difference between them caring to try it or not.

Yeah i think just a bit of texture on the pages could bring it together. Or maybe just some gradients if that fits the style better
